FBD Divine Reserve 15....not digging this at all. It has an off putting finish. I was thinking this may be an oyster stout as I get that flavor from it but apparently not.

The soft stuff that you can tear off is OK, but I still think it is all for show. I really don't like the harder stuff that you have to chisel through. A man should not have to work that hard to get to his beer.

I've had a couple. I think it is a straight RIS. I thought it was pretty good and did not notice any off flavors, but it was a little thin for the style maybe. I have a few left and will research further.

I tried it tonight for the first time and thought it had an oxidized taste, something off for sure.

Nashville has a good coffee scene but I'm not sure I trust Blackstone to capture it
Apparently Blackstone has changed their brewer in the past couple of years and has really stepped up their game. From what I've been told, their reputation before was a run of the mill brewpup. Now, they are putting out some good beers (Hop Jack, Adam Bomb IPA, Barista Brew) and have gained some "cred" at the local craft beer stores and growler filling stations.
They made this beer with Frothy Monkey coffee...I think it's a pretty solid coffee stout. The coffee is nice (sometimes I feel like coffee stouts have a too prevalent burnt coffee bean taste) and I like the creamy mouthfeel. It's not thin by any means, but it isn't too thick and syrupy like a Russian Imperial Stout either. I find Blackstone's to be more drinkable. B+/A-
ETA: Fat Bottom just released a Java Jane coffee porter. I need to walk on over and try it. I'm not a huge fan of their beers, but they did make this with Drew's Brews coffee. He roasts some damn fine beans, so I'd like to try this beer.

Yea dog. I made out a 2 and a 2015, so sure. I wish they'd date them more clearly.

Last one here. This Imperial Stout delivers. I've had a shitty day.

Ouch. Expensive drain pour, though sadly par for the course.

They've had some good stuff lately. Used to just be their porter was their only good beer. I had their tripel at Christmas and it was legit. Also recently had their Hop Jack and Oatmeal Stout and was mildly impressed.

Have you had Wiseacre's coffee beer? Coffee is over the top, in a good way.

SBD was a Hopitoulas with dinner at Barcadia/Curbside.
TBD was a Horny Goat peanut butter porter next door at Chimes. I'll be honest, this one is one of the best peanut butter beers I've had. Huge PB aroma that I couldn't get enough of. More of a dessert beer, but I'd buy more.
