Anyone had the surgery to repair a deviated septum? I've had my nose broken 3 times when I was growing up and have had problems breathing and smell ever since. I turned to nasal sprays to help me sleep on and off for the past 5 years and have most recently put them down and haven't done it for 6 or 7 months.

I have much difficulty sleeping now and breathe through my mouth and wake up most nights several times with an extremely dry mouth. Smell and taste is an issue.

About to get a referral to see and ear, nose and throat Dr and was just curious of how the procedure is and if anyone has had complications from having it.

Wat up Red? It's the guy from the other site that you met and drank a beer with for an LSU/Bama game that you rode in on a bus with the band.

I had nose surgery after my nose was broken. I don't think the doctor did much of anything but steal my money. One side of my nose is always stuffed. I will probably try to get it fixed again at some point.

Buddy of mine had it done a few years and was just miserable and bleeding for about 2-4 weeks.

Had mine done, and it is the BEST decision I've ever made in my life.

Got it done with my tonsil removal as a 2-fer.

Wasn't painful at all, but then again I'm a really easy healer. Wisdom teeth was a walk in the park for me as well. IDK why so many people on here had such bad experiences.

I was 14-15 when I had the deviated septum surgery.

I had a septoplasty in 2000. Worst 4 weeks of my life.

I'm sure the procedure is better now. I know they have a baloon procedure that is supposed to be more tolerable.

Anyway...enjoy.

ETA: I should add, it worked like a charm. I have not had a single sinus infection in the past 15 years, and would get them habitually before the surgery.

Yes I had mine fixed in high school. My septum curved both ways, blocking 80% of my nasal passages. I used to get migraine headaches all the time. I haven't had one since the surgery.

that was the yuppie cosmetic surgery of the '80's, mostly chicks just wanting a nose job but didn't want to say they'd had elective surgery, docs were happy to oblige

I had a septoplasty in October 2013 for very similar reasons (sleep issues).

Mine was done on a Thursday and I was back at work on Monday. The worst part was the plastic splints they put in your nose. They weren't noticeable at first, but by Tuesday I was miserable. Has them removed on Wednesday, I believe.

I am a cyclist and I was back to training within ten days of surgery.

Had a Septoplasty, sinus scrape, and drilled turbines the day after Christmas, best thing I have done in a while! If you had terrible pain in the past couple of years, your doctor sucked or you are a wuss. There is soreness but not real pain, the bleeding and oozing slows dramatically in the first week, but have paper towel for stuff here and there for a week after. Not as bad as people tell you the proceedures have come on in advancement to help.

I had an appointment with a badass ENT this morning that was cancelled due to weather.

I've had 2 sinus infections in 2 months. Sleeping issues, mainly snoring due to this and a dry cough at night that causes me to gag a few times a day. Also had nosebleeds daily most of my life. I am really hoping this guy can fix some of these issues...

I keep hearing about a surgery called UPPP but not real sure if that's an option. Anyone had this procedure done? Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty

Had mine done but it went back to normal after a year. It was a waste. I hope yours turns out better.
