The gas tank is for a 97 yamaha.
The gas tanks are about $600 brand new and that isn't worth it. The tank is dry rotting and cracked. Is there anyway I can get it fixed and not have to buy a new one?

Online vendors are cheaper than brick and mortar.

Ebay has a lot of tanks. If it is not on today, it may be on tomorrow. I replaced an ATV tank for $5 from Ebay.

I know nothing about the subject, but couldn't you buy a used tank somewhere like a junkyard?

What a coincidence! I have a 97 Yamaha with no gas tank!

Go to a parts house and buy some sealant that can tolerate gas and oil.

Slather it on and keep riding.

Leave as much gas in the tank as possible and start welding (no mask or gloves, will come out better).

You can weld some types of plastic, there's a local guy here near me that welds plastic parts for ATVs and dirt bikes. I would think there is someone near you that does it also.

I looked into buying a plastic welder myself once a few years ago, it was less than 500 dollars, but I just never bought it.

Just saw a very good plastic welding kit for about $250, you could buy that, fix your tank then start a plastic welding business.
