Indeed.
Brady vs Montana is the tough question. I think I still gotta go with Joe as the GOAT.

Thrown for more yard and touchdowns then anyone else in the history of the playoffs?

Because that was nothing but padding stats tonight.

I am a fan of both, especially Manning since he is a louisiana guy. My guess is Peyton will look back on his personal accomplishments with satisfaction, and Brady will look at his super bowl rings and super bowl MVP trophies with a similar affection.
History will laud both but will put more value on the latter.

For those who point out statistics to back up your point, you do realize that in ten to fifteen years average qbs will be passing for 5k per year and 35 plus tds, don't you? The NFL is doing all it can to make passing easier and more prolific. It makes Marino's year in 1984 so much more impressive than any year by Manning, Brady or Brees.
Manning's and Brady's stats will be bested by a bunch of forgettable Joe Schmoes and the debate will fall back on career accomplishments.

Brady just passed Montana as the Greatest QB ever in my book. Brady isn't the best or most skilled QB I have ever seen play. I would say Marino, Elway, and Peyton are all better in that sense. But, if you look at his accomplishments and his resume.....you have to say he is now the greatest. JMO.

Not yet in my book. Montana has better playoff and Superbowl ratings than either manning or Brady during an era that was much less friendly for qbs.

Maybe if Montana had gotten his team to 6 Super Bowls instead of 4 his rating wouldn't have been so high? The fact that Brady has gotten his team to those extra Super Bowls, even though they lost, puts him over in my book.

There are multiple factors in getting a team to the Superbowl. What I know is that Montana's performance in the playoffs is superior to Brady's and his Superbowl performances are nearly perfect and his rating is 127.8 compared to Brady's 90 something. Montana never threw a half assed imt like Brady did last night. He never threw an int in the Superbowl.
If in some weird scenario where I have to pick a qb to win a Superbowl or I lose my house, I'm taking Montana and no one else enters my mind.

The best thing about this argument is that the people who throw out Manning stats, refuse to acknowledge how razor thin the difference in stats is, like Brady hasn't put up elite numbers of his own. Balance that with the playoff performances and leadership/intangibles and the argument is laughable. Shout out to all the Pats haters/Manning apologists.. You make this all so much sweeter!

Being the best statistical QB is like getting a bunch of hot girls numbers and never getting laid.
except it isn't.
it takes a team to win a Super Bowl.
The Pats are the best TEAM in the NFL.
They won 11 games with Matt Cassell at QB.
no denying Brady is good, but so is the rest of his team.

For the Manning fans out there who love stats, what do you think Manning's stat line would have been last night?
His arm could have never gotten the TD to Lafell, or all the long out routes to the sideline Tom kept zipping in. Did any of you see last year's super bowl? Did you see last night? Drastically different because the guy tossing the ball had what it took to get it done against one of the best defenses of all time.

Brady got his team there. NE pieced together a secondary a few years ago. They let Welker walk. They are a true team by definition but don't think for a minute that other QB's could do what Brady has done. Did Brees?
