It's different for guys. We can keep friends forever.
Women are so catty, it's hard for y'all to keep friends. Most of your friends come and go.

and guys change when they get in a relationship, but girls really shut people out when that happens

Funny, it used to be exactly like that. Groups were HS, college/frat, MC, former job and law school. Now time, distance and demands have whittled it down to just a handful of close friends.

I consider 3 people good friends. I interact with them less than my acquaintances due to distsnce. But value them more than anyone.

Yeah my main groups are high school and fraternity

They are all friends that I've had for a long, long time. They just aren't friends with each other but get along for the most part when I put them together.

No you don't. You think you do but you don't. Unless your a teenager with only school and no job, no one can juggle that many ppl. You might have 4 friends that your close to but that's about it. The others are just ppl you know. The older you get the less friends you will have. Its just the way life is, you don't have time to build the relationship and become real friends when you get older.
I am sorry if your life is like that, but mine isn't. I have many good friends. I have 100s of "people I know," as you say.
A handful of them are from my high school days, so we have been friends for more than 20 years. I have a handful of USMC friends that I still am close to, and a few live near me...a couple live a couple states away. We have been great friends for nearly 17 years. I actually work with a few of my good college friends. We have been close for nearly a decade. I have made close friends at my current job. I have been working there for 6 years. I don't necessarily go looking to make new friends at my current age (37), but it happens.

Well I made sure that all groups met each other over the stages of my life, and now they sometimes hangout with out even telling me. Its good to try to at least get them to meet up, they way they dont feel "new" to each other. I usually got everyone to meet over mardi gras and other big events.

Yes, my hunting friends that I hunt with from Sept through Jan. Then we kinda drift off in the Spring/Summer till hunting gets cranked up again. I guess we would spend more time together in the off months but kids sports dominates most of their lives. I transition to training for jits and get back in the grind of training hard with my jits buddies which are 100% on the opposite end of the spectrum from my hunting bros.

Yes to the multiple group of friends and I try to keep them separate. It works best that way.
High school friends
College friends
Work friends
I don't let my "worlds collide".

I have a handful of close friends out here in AZ and my friends from work. My other close friends from high school I still keep in contact with scattered all over the country(and some in other countries). Last time many of us all together in one spot was at my wedding, was like a mini HS reunion. FB has been crucial in me keeping up with many of them.

Well that's extremely jaded and pessimistic.

until I had a kid yes. I consider this the olympic rings of friends. Very few interactions and a few rings that never are connected.

Oddly FB has made me not feel the need to contact old friends. It came out my freshman year so ever since I moved away I have always known what is going on with everyone.
