Idk, I think it would've lasted a long...long time. In the end I really really wanna say Ned and think that it would've been one for the ages. But in the end I think Jaime would've won. But make no mistake, I think that Ned could pull one out of his arse.

Also, I read online that Ned made Jaime back down once before then. I'm in the third book, can't remember this happening. Is this true?

And yes, I know that they never actually fought in the book.

I think Jaime would have carved him up, personally.

Jaime was one of the best swordsman around. I don't think Ned could have swung Ice quick enough.

Jaime was the best fighter in Westeros. Would've destroyed Ned

Ned did beat Arthur Dayne but he barely made it out of that one. And that's when he was in his prime.

But only The Mountain and oberyn martell could've even given Jaime a challenge

And wrong board NERD

Ned was half retarded, so he eventually would have stabbed himself

Jaime would have eaten Ned alive. Doubt it would have taken Jaime more than a minute to kill him on a one on one duel. Ned wasn't really all that known for his physical prowless, while really only Barristan Selmy could really compete with Jaime.

Ned would have been beaten soundly and it would not have taken all that long. Ned was no expert swordsman. His talent was strategy, government, and command. Jamie was the vastly superior swordsman.

This thread made me want to talk GoT so I started a spinoff thread on the Movie Board

Also, did book readers lose their shite when Jaime and Ned started to duel on screen? The show was only 3 or 4 episodes in at that point if I recall. We didn't really know how much they were going to deviate from the source material yet. Having Ned and Jaime fight at that point probably seemed like a HUGEEE difference at first.

I think they resolved it well, and I personally liked the scene a lot, FWIW.

I put Ned around the same tier as Stannis. They lack the natural.talent of a Jaime, Barristan or Oberyn as well as the overwhelming size and strength of the Mountain, the Hound, or King Robert. But both were competent swordsmen because no one ever outworked them.in the practice yard.

So Jaime, and pretty easily.

Jaime would have whooped Ned's arse

Ned was not a renown swordsman
