I completey agree with that but obviously the guy that signs his check doesn't care if he doesn't give the interview. The NFL is the only part of the equation that makes it a big deal. If the guy doesn't want to talk, he shouldn't be forced to by the leauge.

I would argue that yes, it means he owes it to the fans to be available to the media. Maybe even take pictures and sign autographs! Oh, the horror.

I actually love these stories because it pisses sports writers off so much. It's always revealing how important they think they are.

No. He owes his team hard work and good performances on Sunday. That is all. If his employer doesn't like how he handles these situations, then they would get rid of him. He owes nothing to anyone but the Seahawks.

I'm confused as to why Marshawn is getting all this love as some anti-establishment figure while Richard Sherman seems to be close to universally loathed on this board. Is it just because of his beef with PP?

Because it's Sherman who is once again showing how to intelligently flip the bird to The Man while making excellent points about league hypocrisy.

If Marshawn really wanted to drive the point home, his reptitive answer would be "Forget about me...go talk to Sherman".

Again, see my last comment. No consequences for media members creating controversy from out of context quotes. He said last year when this stuff started thats why he was doing it.

The media isn't paid by the NFL. If their employer has a problem with the way they do things that is on them. Lynch is an employee to a NFL Franchise and thus has to abide by their policies that come with his paycheck.

Marshawn isn't nearly as intelligent as Sherman.

The people in this thread who honestly believe that his high pay means he suddenly should just ignore whatever social interactivity disorder he clearly has and speak fluidly and freely to the media really need to get a clue. the fact that he's paid millions to play a kids game doesn't mean he owes any of you fricks a single thing.

Oh for fricks sake he's a paid entertainer.

Athelete was the word you were looking for. I just don't think the NFL should force anyone to talk to the media if they do not want to. Not just Lynch but any player in the league.

His act is old. He's just giving it away now. The only statement he's making is "I'm a dumbass who is willing to give away the same money I held out for last year".

No, entertainer. He gets paid to entertain. He has no value outside of the spectator sport arena. I respect his athletic ability a lot, that doesn't mean he's not an entertainer.

So, you don't think he is a role model to kids outside of the arena? He may even have a charity or two outside of the arena that he gives money to... I'd say both of those have value..

Agree to disagree. IMO, he gets paid to run the shite out of the football. If he happens to entertain fans while doing so, then so be it. I think the job description of a running back in the NFL is to run, not show boat or give interviews. Again, if ownership did not think he was performing his job adequately, he wouldn't be playing.

You can't really say this. It's clearly stated in his contract what he is paid to do and that is not limited to "running th football"

Pretty sure someone with social anxiety wouldn't feel comfortable grabbing his junk in front of 75k people.

I didn't think it was the Seahawks that were forcing him to do interviews. The fines come directly from the NFL, correct? It is the NFL policy forcing him to talk, not his team. His team demands he shows up and plays.
