How much difference will the flat seam baseball make?

I'm not educated on the subject. Really hoping it will make the games better to watch, this dead ball stuff is for the birds.

15-20 feet of carry with same exit speed so no added danger to infielders.

Coach said that last year over 100 mph ball off bat was required to hit homerun. This year they had one clocked at 94 mph that left park. He predicted they would have 65-70 home runs I think versus 40 something this past season. Believe those numbers are correct from what he said but it was 3 days ago

Are you really this stupid or just pretend to be on the internet?

Plus, more difficult to throw breaking balls.

I think the fact the pitchers can't grip the ball as well will impact the game even more than the balls flying further will. College baseball ERAs are a joke with the best pitchers having ERAs below 2. Pitchers can't grip the ball as well which will lead to more hittable pitches which will travel further. It should be a lot better.

This is the main impact of the flat seams, far more than long ball carry, if that is even affected much at all. If a pitcher gets less movement on his pitches, that's an advantage to the batter. And consequently we should see more offense.
The lack of offense over the last few years has made the game very tough to watch.

Maneri stated he would expect The teams HR total to be around 60. Up from about 40 last year

I just can't believe that changing the seams will make enough difference to notice...I'll believe it when I see it...

Supposed to cut down on the drag. Those long drives that die on the warning track will leave the park now.

The D-I switch was widely expected after an NCAA study revealed that the flat-seamed ball travels an average of 20 feet longer out of a pitching machine set to simulate typical home run conditions than the raised-seam ball,
quote:
But changing the height of the seams does not affect the exit velocity of the ball off the bat; rather, the “drag effect” of the raised seams takes effect the longer a ball travels through the air.
The raised-seam ball has a seam height of .048 inches, compared to .031 inches for the flat-seamed ball. The flatter-seam height is consistent with the balls used in minor league baseball, but still higher than what is used in the major leagues.

No they aren't.... Pitchers prefer this ball the breaking balls just don't bite as much but overall is good for CBB. Can't wait to see this team, they would have already been better on offense but this will make it that much better IMO. Can't wait!!

its going to ruin the game.
its almost as dumb as the MLB proposal to disallow defenders to position to one side of the field against a dead pull hitter.
You will not be able to throw breaking balls the way kids grew up learning how to do. it is the stupidest thing I have heard of in a few months of a life on planet earth.
pathetic.
Now that you cannot grip the baseball, all you will be able to do is learn a change up and throw a knuckleball. Knuckle ball coaches will be at a premium.

Yeah, they definitely need a little more offense. Homers at the new place for the CWS are like rare events now.
