Arse's Fatty Rewind™ (Prepping for Mardi Gras)

With just a few weeks left until Lent, and the full on debauchery which occurs before then, I began to get my body ready for the shite show. I ate worthless calories and consumed copious amounts of alcohol. Unfortunately, I passed the frick out around 9:00 Saturday and Sunday. I need to step my game up on that end.
Before leaving work on Friday, I checked the fridge to see if I had to throw anything away. I found some flan from Pho Tau Bay I had forgotten about. I scarfed that down and headed to Walmart. It was delicious.
I didn't plan on going out because the shitty weather had me exhausted. I ran to Walmarks to grab some shite to make a chili. It took twenty minutes to check out. frick that place.
Heading home, I grabbed some sushi from Origami. I went with escolar and a poke salad. Both were very good. Origami has become my go to sushi spot.
After eating, I commenced pounding the Beam and making the chili. I always use tavolatim's recipe, but I also add a can of beans.
After polishing off the 5th, I passed out.
Saturday morning I awoke around 6 feeling fresh. I threw on my running clothes to go jog with my brother. Our fat boy 10k training is coming along nicely.
After our jog, I wanted something to eat. I drove to Mid-City to check out the $5 breakfast at Betsy's. Unfortunately, they are closed on Saturdays. I then went to Blue Dot to grab some donuts.
I grabbed some glazed, chocolate covered glazed, red velvet, peanut butter/banana and strawberry cream cheese. I was not impressed and believed their quality has dropped off some. I'm not sure how long the glazed had sat out. And the peanut butter banana's flavors were not that great.
From there, I ran to Lafitte's to get some bourbon and share the donuts. We discussed the possible effects of the looming smoking ban. I also found this lovely couples picture. If it's any of you, the bar has them.
After a couple drinks, I ran home to shower. I had to go to the plot draft for Hogs at Nola Brewery. I didn't see Kirk, but they were plenty of familiar faces in the crowd.
I went with a Girl Scout Cookie Stout first. Many of you know that I'm no beer connoisseur. My favorites are Dixie, Budweiser and High Life. I thought the beer was good, but I didn't taste any cookie. My beer snob friends disagreed and said they could definitely taste it. I guess I'll just stick to cheap bourbon.
The grounds were nice and the port-o-lets were clean. All in all I had a fun time there.
From there, we ran to Bachanal. I was disappointed the upstairs bar was not open, but I loved the food. I grabbed a couple of beers and went to sit outside. I laughed at all the fools trying to figure out how to turn on the propane tanks. I guess it takes a genius to realize the tanks were not on.
We got a cheese plate and some type of goat cheese appetizer. I was licking the shite out of the goat cheese bowl. I love cheese.
After polishing off the plate, we ran back to Lafitte's before heading Uptown to meet some friends at the Bulldog. I grabbed a Beam and cozied up by the fireplace.

The Bulldog was crowded as usual. I grabbed a few Beams.
I became hungry and began looking at my options in walking distance. It's sucks that that block and so many good bars, but the food is so disappointing. We went next door to Arana Taqueria. I ordered some guacamole, queso fundido, and a taco plate with veggies and cebollitas. I will say that the food was substance. I was not impressed, but it was cheap.
The guac and queso were good. I was not crazy about my plate. The cebollitas and veggies did not have much flavor. I went with tinga and lengua tacos. I have had much better from food trucks. I doubt I will return.
After dinner, I went home and passed out.
On Sunday, I awoke to head to mass. It was the last day of the Winter Novena, and I was being sworn in for my third term as the treasurer of the Knights of Peter Claver.
After mass, I ran home to grab some chili to bring to my bartender for his birthday. I also stopped at Johnny's to grab a couple shrimp poor boys.
I thought the poor boy was pretty good, but I'd give the nod to Verti for may favorite in the Quarter.
After several rounds and a couple of hours of music, I walked to Petite Amelie to grab some chicken salad for lunch during the week. I saw several doberge king cakes, so I grabbed one for the bar. It was the cream cheese flavor.
I would rate this cake a 10.
From there, we returned home to relax and eat some chili. I made a buffet of toppings including fritos, green onion, sour cream, cheese, cilantro, jalapenos, etc....
I love chili and it hit the spot. I apologize for not taking a spoon pic.
After dining, I passed out.
On my way to work, I stopped to grab some gas. I was feeling a little hungry so I grabbed this pickled sausage.
The vinegar and chicken flavors hit the spot. I'm ready to take on the haters this Monday.
Stay fat, my friends.

Time to go to work now.
You should do a Food Network Show, featuring New Orleans.
You and Guy Fieri and Andrew Zimmern could do it, if they could somehow keep up with you.
You could call it "Stay Fat my Friends."
The Sunday Mass segment of each week's show would drive the haters wild.
Where do you attend Mass?
Added
You know, you could get a Go-Pro camera and make a fortune doing U-Tube videos. About a Bozillion people would follow you within 6 months.
You could leave that Lawyer stuff in the dust.
Think of how many hits your liver transplant video would get....

Are there any preventive measures? I'm not looking forward to that.

Nb4 LL says that it isn't a lot of food for a weekend.
I typically enjoy these threads, but unfortunately thought this was was lacking. I'm more impressed with the amount of Beam you consume, than the food

Arse, I had no idea Vietnamese food included flan. I adore flan.

Wow I don't know how you do it
I went to many of the same places this weekend. We were at NOLA at the same time.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and the International Shrine of St. Jude
Even if you're not Catholic, I would suggest coming for the music. The congregation is one of the most diverse I've ever encountered.
