My grandfather is 87. He drives and does pretty much whatever else. He is also batshit crazy and makes insane financial decisions. This was not the case 4-5 years ago.

Not taking sides re: benson, but it quite possible that he appears normal and is really not.

guy is 87 what's wrong with this diet

If I was 87, I'd eat whatever the hell I pleased. What harm is it going to do?

I think Rita's case has more legs than people want to believe. Tom Benson, the NFL franchise owner and business man, was well respected. However, it's my opinion that Tom Benson, the man, was not as admired as some might think (I know of at least one incident in which Benson pissed off the press at a game - he was totally crude and rude) and there are minions in waiting to step forward and seize their chance to balance the scales. It's a nasty business, these law suits.

Absolutely which is why the NFL and NBA didn't approve the move. They know he isn't all there otherwise they would have rubber stamped this move.

How so barrister?

Everything you wrote after this has no bearing on your above statement. Just curious.

not for the next 10 years. but it's not crazy to reap millions for 10 years, and then cash out.

Read the whole thing, interesting to see where this goes.

Read the entire petition as well. Can't wait to see the replies to the petition. It's not a very strong petition. It reads more like a last act of desperation. This is not going to get too far unless there is something else out there of significance that's unknown. Rita's behavioral history alone will haunt her in this shitstorm.

It is crazy to worry about things ten years down the road.
Herpes. Global warming. Donny Osmond come back tour are all things much closer to home to worry about right now.

It has everything to do with it, Grasshopper. If she can stitch together a plausible set of witnesses and enough supporting evidence, she might have a shot at at least a few crumbs.

NFL and NBA now will not approve of the ownership shift until the court proceedings are over which means that Rita, Renee, and Ryan are still in control. You would think they would have put more forethought into this move but it now looks like a impulse move.

You are completely wrong. Tom Benson is in complete control until a judge says otherwise. NFL only approves succession plans, not who is currently in control. 31 other rich old men will be very hesitant to start a precedent where they deny an owner the ability to dispose of his prized possession as he sees fit. Also they know Rita and Gayle. They will side with Gayle and the Lausha/loom is team every fricking time. In fact I wouldn't be surprised to,see, them rule, before the court in order to try to influence it.

i agree with this.

NFL owners are the most insular group of men alive. it's like the fricking trilateral commission.

these guys are not going to vote to allow one of their own to be forced to give his franchise to someone he doesn't want to.

Wouldn't the State of Louisiana be entitled to a refund for the financial aid it gave the Saints a few years ago when Benson threatened to pull the Saints from Louisiana? You do remember that...

What the hell does anything I posted have to do with the State getting back money under breach? Only if they move and right now, that is not on the table.

This is what really bothers me about the situation. Benson's business assets were already placed in irrevocable trusts with his daughter (Renee) and grandchildren (Rita/Ryan) as beneficiaries. Benson recently attempted to remove those assets out of the trusts but the trustee refused to permit it. The trusts only permitted a transfer out of assets if replaced with assets of comparable value.

Benson was trying to replace them with unsecured promissory notes, which had no value at all.

Unsecured promissory notes with no value as a replacement value is to put it mildly an attempt to defraud the trust. A coherent Tom Benson would not try to defraud a trust and risk everything he owns which is why some of the facts presented in the lawsuit really present some material issues for Gayle Benson.

I know Rita has been given chance after chance to get her shite straight and she hasn't been able to. She's a fcking nut job who has disappeared at times. Probably off with one of N.O. famous garbage business owner or off seeking "help" to get better.

Fck her and the greedy crazy fricks around her.

Gayle is damn near a saint in real life and I would trust her and Tom's side over the loons any day of the week.

And Tigerpawl, you are are either a troll or just stupid.

Based on what? On the surface, she appears to be a gold digger trying to break up trusts and the trust assets so she can gain control.

Now if she can, more power to her, but don't make her out to be a saint.

It's well known around the city in how she treats people on airline drive and in her personal life. I know people who have done work for her, been apart of her charity groups, and those who have been around her in church related things.
She's good people.

And everyone thought Ted Bundy was a nice guy. Now, obviously, I'm not comparing Gayle Benson to Bundy, but it's not unheard of for someone to not truly be as they appear on the surface.

Gayle Benson may ultimately prove to be salt of the earth, but there's more than a little smoke here. The matter of an attempt to raid one or more of the trusts of its/their assets is going to take some explaining, and I can't come up with a rational reason why-- if he's of sound mind-- TB would attempt this.

I'm not siding with the LeBlanc camp here, I'm just saying both sides could be potentially shitty in this...
