The food is going to be average at best, but if Ninfa's and Superior and all of the other grease and cheese shitholes can keep people coming back, I can't see why VC with a great atmosphere will not do the same.

But there are a lot of people who are loyal Superior and Ninfa's customers. I don't know how you chisel those people away. Superior is our go-to Mexican place. Velvet Cactus will have to really be good to start cutting into our trips there

My biggest issue is that the patio is really close to a very busy intersection. Happy Hour goers are going to be engulfed by exhaust fumes. We have some really good cheap Mexican places so the food better be worth the pretty penny I assume they're going to be charging.

No a mystery.

People like drinks and atmosphere. When I say people, I mean girls. They couldn't give two shits about the food Mexican is Mexican to them.

It's all about atmosphere.

This x100000.

Think of VC as Rum House #2 if it helps you. They aren't targeting loyal customers of long-standing Mexican places in BR, so I don't see why this is even being brought up. They are targeting the same younger crowd that goes to Rum House.. tropical drinks, mediocre food, big atmosphere.

People know they're from New Orleans, know the place has a good atmosphere, and know that the owners are the same as Bulldog. In my opinion, that will be enough to attract the people they want.

Seems awfully pricey for Mexican food.

Yeah, this would bother me. I don't want that scene all that much if I'm going to a place to enjoy their patio.

Should be interesting to follow how they do.

Rum House's food is MUCH better than VC, and this is coming from someone that is a critic of Rum House's food.

VC's food cannot be criticized enough. It's bad. Very bad.

Velvet cactus in Lakeview is some of the worst mexican food I've had in my life. It's a good a spot to drink and catch a saints game but man the food is just bad.

So they're guaranteed to make a killing in BR.

See, I don't find it to be horrible. It's on par with the likes of Superrior, Casa Garcia, Carrettas, etc.
Average food, but it's not that hard to throw out tacos, fajitas, and burritos that are acceptable.

You're out of your mind. It is God awful. Maybe on par with Superior, but I think it's worse.

The atmosphere is really great though. Among the best in the city.

Drove by last night on way to WF, the parking lot and patio was packed..

Employees/Special Invitees only night

Have never dined at the VC in Nawlins, but they will do well on Jefferson if only for the patio and drinks..there isn't much in this regards in that corridor.

They will print money. They've got it all figured out.

Get girls to a place. What do girls like? Outside dining, atmosphere, and DRINKS. Guys follow the girls.

Food is irrelevant. Even more so in BR.

What makes it so bad? Mexican food is pretty hard to frick up. I find it hard to believe the food is that much worse than a the Rum House. The Rum House's food is incredibly average...below average when you factor in price.

Have to agree with Fun Bunch here. VC has a few decent things but overall I think the food is pretty bad. Had 2 sides items (their own creations) that were basically slop.
