turned out to be nothing much at all?
Or did the trailers ruin the whole movie before it ever hit the screen?

it was too hyped for me. I didn't think it was anything special.
Overall I liked Inception better

I kind of have no desire to see it...Christopher Nolan is sloppy when it comes to the details
so, his first venture into my favorite genre (maybe 2nd, but whatever) isn't something I'm too stoked about
rental for sure

Who says it was nothing much at all?

I thought it was really good, and that seemed to be the general consensus that I heard.
As of January 9 the domestic gross was almost $185 million on a $165 million budget. That's probably profitable.
I really don't know what you are talking about.

I thought it was great. One of the few "original" blockbusters we've had in awhile, plus I really like space and time travel movies.
But hey if you liked it, that's because you are just a huge Nolan fan boy.

I don't recall any hype but maybe I just wasn't paying attention.

Count me in the group of people that loved the movie.

And $662M worldwide - I think they'll be fine.

I like Interstellar. I thought the third act was a bit weak, but the movie was really good IMO.

I thought it was pretty excellent. Even after 3 hours, I didn't want it to end.

I thought it was fricking excellent, and really the only thing in the second act the trailers ruined was the fact there were waves the size of the Wall in Westeros there. It was everything I hoped for it to be, except it seemed to be too smart for the popcorn eating masses and seemed to dumb some things down for smart people in order to make the film accessible to the masses.
I've got a great passion for space travel and knowing we're going in the wrong direction as a species, and this film finally addresses something I've been trying to tell people for about a decade. It really is the spiritual successor to 2001, and unlike Gravity, it will have legs on DVD and I don't think a large portion of the audience really realized what they've watched yet. I'll give it about 10 years before it's widely regarded as Nolan's greatest film to this date at least, since I really think this is a film that will be dissected for years to come. Definitely my favorite film of this year.
Now just make an accurate movie on the possibility of the Singularity (ie: not robots taking over), and the two subjects in film I've most sought will be complete.

Ill never forget the nolanites spooging on their computer screens every night for a year talking about how awesome it would be.

My favorite movie in a long time. I loved it.

In the world of reboots, sequels and unoriginal movies..... Interstellar is a fricking masterpiece.
