Whitney Thore isn't afraid to use the F word: Fat.
"We have a belief that fat equates to all negative things," Thore, a viral video sensation who now has a TLC show, "My Big Fat Fabulous Life," told the Daily News. "If you're fat you're lazy, stupid, unhealthy, ugly, and I don't believe that. I believe that fat can coexist with a lot of other great adjectives."
Thore's trajectory to fame began last January, when she and her colleagues at a North Carolina radio station released a YouTube video called "A Fat Girl Dancing."
"I definitely loved the title," the 29-year-old recalled. "To juxtapose the word 'fat,' which is the dirtiest word and has so many negative connotations, with the images of a body in motion, of someone happy, of somebody living their passions … it humanizes fat people," she said.

Thore was never skinny, she told The News, but a diagnosis with polycystic ovarian syndrome six years ago caused her to gain almost 100 pounds overnight. The condition makes it difficult for her to lose weight.
But Thore also takes "personal responsibility" for her body and said that she would like to drop 100 pounds.
"I'm not naïve to the health risks that come with being this size," she said.

TLC saw the video and came calling. Now, Thore, who weighs 380 pounds, has a reality show following the highs and lows she faces being a stocky woman in a stick-thin world.

Being fat causes one's pits to stain.

Literally for the first time in the history of mankind where starvation was an ever constant possibility. People have begun to feel sorry for those who have had too much to eat....

What an unfortunate name. Not hard to guess her high school nickname.

genetics are what makes you fat, not personal accountability

Ah, I guess TLC had to jump on it at the beginning of the year since NC only budgeted $10m to go towards film subsidies this year. First come first serve.

Genetics certainly play a role in a person's body type. However, you don't weigh damn near 400 lbs as a female without being "lazy" and "unhealthy". I've never met a fat person who did not constantly eat large amounts of unhealthy food while at the same time living an very inactive lifestyle.

My wife has polycystic ovarian syndrome.
She's like 5'7" 125. This bitch just wants an excuse to be fat.

Usually, women get fat before they get PCOS.

So, after this thread last night, I had to check this show out. I've known women with PCOS, and they did gain a lot of weight. But, not like this. Anyway, this chick was obnoxious and full of excuses. She mentioned PCOS about a 100 times in relation to her weight. Not only that, she's in her 30s, lives at home with her parents, and has decided that dance is the way she will lose weight. Dancing will be good, but it's not enough to get off all of that weight. She was needy and pathetic throughout the episode. My SO was falling asleep and kept waking back up to say how annoying she was. We both have thyroid problems which makes weight a difficulty. But, if we don't eat crap and exercise regularly, it's a non-issue. A little harder than most to drop weight, but the formula is still the same. No sympathy from me.
