A defesive minded coach who never had a QB to begin with. If he had went to the falcons, he'd have made them way better defensively along with a proven QB. Im glad he didn't go there.

Ummm, we'd all still be glad Rex didn't go there?

Exactly. I think rex ryan would have been a slam dunk hire. A good offense and a young defense is a recipe for success for Rex. Josh mcDaniels would be a dream come true, but I think Quinn or Bowles will be the guy.

Yeah I mentioned in the thread talking about Mike Smith being fired that Rex Ryan in Atlanta would be very bad for the Saints.

The Buccs were bad this year, but another year or two and Lovie Smith will have (at least) the defense playing at a high level. Carolina has had the best defense in the NFC South two years in a row. If you had Atlanta pushing out a solid defense in a couple of years we'd be forced through a regular season meat-grinder even before the playoffs began.

I don't see what's so good about Bowles. Arizona was 24th in total yards given up, 29th in passing yards given up, and 13th in rushing yards given up. Pretty mediocre hire if you ask me. Would love for Atlanta to get Bowles. Quinn on the other hand...

He must have seen TD up close.
And you never know but glad he stayed up north.

Not really, Blank hiring a coach that has a losing record and got fired sounded good to me.

Any coach that can produce a top-tier offense/defense year-in-year-out in the NFL is a quality hire. It's common knowledge that the Jets are almost as poorly managed as an Al Davis Raiders team.

I wish he had gone to the Falcons. What has he ever done? Once again he will die an ugly death in Buffalo. But I can still hope the Birds get Kiffin.

You think Blank is going down that road again after the Petrino debacle?

I'm rather glad he didn't become the coach, personally. But here's how this will play out here:

Had he become the coach, all Saints fans would've said they were happy he was the coach cause he sucks.
Now that he didn't, Saints fans are happy because he would've made them better.

ETA: I don't think Bowles is a good hire either and he seems to be the front-runner so that kinda sucks in my opinion too

Yea, no. There was a thread on the MSB when he was in consideration. The consensus from Saints fans was that he would have been a good hire.

The Rex Ryan/Dirk Koetter combo was legit scary to contemplate.

But the Falcons are the Falcons so Koetter ended up at a division rival and Ryan took the Buffalo (?) job

I much rather Ryan than John Fox. If Fox lands in ATL then they lock up the south for the awhile.

Well crap. Had my hopes up for the Saints the next couple of years.
The smart play if they land him would be to trade Brees and any other high priced studs we have for draft pics to maybe challenge in 5 to ten years.
