Dead period ends on January 15th
Signing Day is Early Febuary
Zook could still be coaching in Febuary

How's that for logic?

It's not logical at all. If you hand picked the new DC for your team, but he had another job for a month, you would tell him to frick off? That is illogical.

Just out of curiosity, was Trgovac a senior when Miles went back to Michigan as assistant?

Who, of those guys would have the most to gain by coming to LSU? Del Rio jumps off the page in that regard, he played and coached for the Saints, his wife is from LA, and had a daughter go to LSU. What if...WHAT IF... Look, pretty much everyone has thought that Del Rio was just waiting for another NFL job to open-up. What if Miles is essentially handpicking his successor here? Miles gauges Del Rio's interest in coaching a major D1 program, instead of grinding in the NFL for another 10 years, and tells him that he only wants to coach another year, two tops, then it's all his. Del Rio would be 52/53 at that point and, if successful, could have a solid 10-15 year run before hanging it up. It would be interesting...

One heck of a story. But it actually seems plausible. A friend and I were recently speculating about Les only wanting to coach another 2 or 3 years, which could have been why Chavis wanted the 'Miles Clause' removed from his contract. Again, just speculation.

Ted Monachino (Ravens LB Coach)
Kris Richard (Seahawks DB Coach)
Winston Moss (Packers LB Coach)

All of these guys are Super Bowl winning coaches that have coached All Pros that are impressive. This would not hurt with recruiting.

Even though Richard is DB coach, he has a USC connection with Coach O.

If we are considering Del Rio, then:
Sean McDermott
Greg Manusky

No you don't tell him to frick off, but you tell him if you have a deadline to make a decision. Recruiting and CFB go together so much that it is not uncommon to pick a coach who will be available right away this time of year. So sometimes in college you end up with best available option, not best option. Right or wrong, this happens often. That's why it sucks to lose a key coach in January.

Not a recruiting guru at all so this is a serious question; doesn't the HC get more access to recruits when his staff is down a man? IF that's the case does it really matter that much if he waits especially when you consider Chief wouldn't have contributed much anyway. We're probably still better of with just Less covering for him.

That seems possible. I've never heard of him, but that doesn't mean much

If miles is retiring soon, then I'd bet the house that was a reason cam came. But I'd think if the offense doesn't improve, we will then start fresh.

Well it's more of the fact that recruits don't know who our DC will be, so could affect defensive recruits. Some of these kids are coming to LSU regardless, some could go either way. The competition is fierce, so even little things (DC at LSU isn't a little thing) can make the difference between landing or losing some of the best recruits.

I am thinking Mike Trgovac, just an education guess. Fits all the requirements for the scavanger hunt.
