The gf and I are going to NOLA the weekend of Jan 17th. She wants to go to Acme Oyster house.
What other restaurant options are out there that do the same things but are better?

There are places that have overall better food but not many have oysters, especially charbroiled, that are head and shoulders better. The problem with Acme is the wait. It's just not worth it. Go to the Metairie location if you must go to Acme.
Two suggestions
Bourbon House
Casamentos

No clue. We'll probably just go to Acme. I'm going to check out the place across the street though.

For raw and loaves, Casamento's
For charbroiled, Drago's

Imagine being popular for an item where all you really do is open it.

Why don't you ask her? Then, we can provide more options.

The chargrilled are not the best out there, but they're fresh, tasty and not over cooked. They're not highly seasoned.

So true and that's why I never order them there. If you want chargrilled there is nothing wrong with Acme and Dragos. They are two of the best in that arena.

The chargrilled at Acme in BR are the worst I've ever had. Tried them twice when I was brought there and they just aren't very good. Casamento's beats those by a mile.
I haven't had Drago's, but Mansur's are my favorites anywhere.

Agree.
I just hope his SO isn't set on ACME and she only eats poboys or something. Seems like a waste of a long wait if that is the case.
ETA: Agree to the Dragos part. I've never had chargrilled at ACME. In BR, I get them at Mansur's.
