What does Jimmer's recent emergence mean for AR?

Last 3 games comparison:
Rivers: 21 MPG 3.3 PPG 1.3 Ast 2.0 reb 26.3 FG%
Jimmer: 22 MPG 11.0 PPG 2.0 Asts 1.3 reb 52.3 FG% 33.3% 3 Point
Obviously jimmer is greatly outplaying AR offensively and is solid defensively as well.
It's a (very)small sample size yes but you can tell the difference between the 2.
When EG returns and jimmer keeps this up will AR be a DNP or possibly moved?

I can definitely see Rivers's expiring being used in a trade. Russ should be getting those end of bench blowout minutes so that we can see what he can do. Otherwise, Rivers won't get minutes unless a guard gets injured.

Jimmer's last 3 games have been good. However the rest of the games (that he's played in) have been pretty bad. I think it's way too small of a sample size to draw any conclusion especially considering AR's offensive improvement this entire year.
If I had to choose between keeping one and getting rid of one, I'd keep AR because to me that's the safer pick based off of what I've seen this year.

Rivers has a lot more playing time and has been awful for all but maybe 7 or 8 games. Dare I say that Jimmer has been better on defense than Rivers. And Jimmer isn't really going to make a dent in a trade return. Rivers makes nearly 3 times as much as Jimmer does and is highly likely to be included in a trade where we take back more salary than we send.

I don't think they are necessarily mutually exclusive. In fact, I like it when both are in the backcourt. Its better than seeing Salmons out there. And it gives the team more dynamic elements on the court at once. Jimmer hits Js, Rivers drives to the hoop. Like yin and yang...

I like Rivers ability to finish at the basket, and he is an OK bench player. Jimmer playing better and EG on the mend should = AR's minutes cut substantially.
There is a role for him on this team, just a limited one..

He's really not. He had one of the worst first round rookie seasons of all time and has actually been worse than that since EG went out. We all saw flashes of defensive ability (I'll never forget his owning Kobe on 3 straight possessions a few years back, even after Kobe called for the ball to try to take Rivers). He seems to be regressing on defense. He's just awful.

I don't wanna get caught holding the Rivers Support bag.. I guess my point was that he is an OK bench player on this team. By league standards he is an 8th man to end of the bench guy. Lack of depth demands he get a lot more play time than what he should be getting

Right. But with Gordon coming back and Reke (who should always be a guard) playing some guard for us, minutes are about to go down significantly for either Rivers, Jimmer, or both. With EG back, it will all be about how we want to split up ~22 minutes between Rivers and Jimmer, and I'd prefer Jimmer get them all.

I'm expecting it to mean most for Babbitt honestly. What I think will happen is EG slides in to start, Rivers is still the lead guard off the bench, and Jimmer will play a few less minutes. Cunningham's minutes will dip slightly as well. I think Monty has pinned AR as a combo guard and Jimmer a 2 (very similar to the Roberts/Rivers situation last year oddly enough with roles reversed). That just naturally leads to more minutes for Rivers in Monty's rotation. Can't forget that EG has to stay healthy for any of this to matter which is a huge ?. In a perfect world it also means no more John Salmons, but I have my doubts.

that would be a mistake

I'd expect rivers and fredette to get about the same minutes but Gordon will take all of babbitts minutes. Babbitt held down the fort but it's time he went back to the bench

I agree NT, but we've actively seen Salmons and Cunningham splitting minutes recently. My hope is that bare minimum it's a Luke/Dante time split with Salmons giving veteran speeches from the very end of the bench.
I'm not guessing what I would do, I'm guessing what Monty would do.

When EG comes back, we should never see a backcourt fredette and AR. I actually like the idea of EG coming off the bench with Ryno. EG getting 25 mpg should be optimum given his injury history.
A 2nd unit of Ryno, EG, and Cunnigham with Fredette/AR and AA. I really don't see the need to play AR/Frederette more than 10 or so mins a game with the flexibility EG/Jrue/Reke give you.

This isn't going to happen. Babbit has proven himself this year and can play SF. We will still need the ability to defend the 3 and his shooting has helped us spread the floor.

I see Rivers being packaged in a trade with Salmons. Maybe for Jarrett Jack? That would fit with the whole Corporate Knowledge mantra we've heard since the off-season.

I agree in regards to Babbitt. I really feel he is a nice compliment especially when Reke is on the floor. EG should take the majority of AR's mins. They play the exact same position and their skillser are very similar except EG is a lot better.

That kills your ability to get a SF in FA unless you are ready to package a 1st to dump Gordon.
