Alleva is Holding Les’s Feet to the Fire

Let me preface things with:
1) I generally like Les
2) I generally dislike Joe
3) Nothing I post is ever going to affect a hiring/firing, play call, personnel set, playing time, and so on. Just discussing a topic of like interest with my fellow fans,
As I see it, Joe’s tack is that Les needs to stop trying to ‘buy’ his way to success and instead ‘coach’ his way to success. Put yourself in Alleva’s shoes for a moment. Other coaches have to find young coaching talent and develop them. Why can’t you? You convinced me to hire an OC that’s among the highest paid. What do I have to show for it? How much risk do I want to hitch the LSU football future to?
At first, I blamed Joe for not ponying up the money to retain our old DC. But maybe it was the right thing to do.

Oh, thanks. For a second there I was assuming otherwise.

I'm optimistic they will both make the right decisions with the DC situation

J.A. couldn't care less about LSU's W/L record as long as the AD makes a profit.

I completely disagree with your assessment.

You can't get blood out of a turnip.

Yea, because LSU doesn't have the money to pay their coaches.

Come on, bruh. Look at the situation logically.
1) How was our offense last year, Cam's first year...with a good QB.
2) Look at what we lost on O this year.
3) The O was YOUNG this year...YOUNG.
Cam has not had enough time to develop Harris, and I don't think Jennings is going to be starting next year. It will be interesting to see what Cam can do with Harris next year, and how much Harris can grow in the off-season.

So you think Alleva would let a good coach go and then not make a great hire to replace him so he can see if Miles can make it work with a less talented coach?

Nah.
Obviously, Alleva wasn't willing to pay the money.
Everything else you said is wrong, IMO. I don't think it was a shot at Miles at all.

Miles has zero accountability. There is no evidence of it over the 10 years at LSU.

Are you stupid or somethin?

Alleva gave Miles the raise and extension in a year we finished 17th ( I think) in the rankings. Then we finish unranked in the two seasons since. If Alleva is doing anything he's try to salvage his reputation and possibly career. I would agree he has lost confidence in Miles but not sure we won't pay big bucks on next DC hire.
