Paying a coach 8 million a year makes sense in the South(due to returns on investment) but not in the Midwest. Bad investment IMO. Michigan is betting the farm on the Harbaugh name bringing in top 5 classes and talent from the South.

Brian Kelly said it best

quote:

"I think people are moving out of the Midwestern towns that were industrial based," Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly said in August. "I think it's more about economics. People are moving into areas where they can find a better lifestyle.

quote:

"Just take a look at Pennsylvania and the great high school teams that used to be in that area. Now because of the steel towns and the exodus of so many jobs in that area, high school football is not what it once was. I think that's happened in a lot of these industrial cities throughout the Midwest as well."

Michigan already brought in top 10 classes with Hoke, Hoke.

Why are you enthralled with us to the point of starting this stupid thread?

So what is michigan supposed to do? Roll over and give up? They hired a guy who is a proven national recruiter whose status can get him in any living room in America. This is ten times better than building new facilities etc. College is all about the head coach. The hc is by far the best investment.

I can't see Jim sitting across the Christmas table from John wearing Super Bowl rings and all Jim can bring to the table is at most a Big 10 championship ring after one of John's rings was won over Jim.

This is why I'm still not buying Harbaugh to Michigan until he holds the press conference. It makes zero sense for him to go to the armpit of America after being in the Bay for so long at this point in his career.

hard to project really.., the pressure will be enormous but playing in the B1G should guarantee ~9 wins per year just on sheer talent alone.

JH has yet to prove he can win consistently at the college level without an Andrew Luck type QB, so this hire is still risky.

He recruited well enough at Stanford for them to go to a BCS bowl game. Their fan base can not even fill a 50 thousand seat stadium. You are a tard if you don't think Harbaugh will be successful at Michigan

I'm not sure why people are so hung up on the numbers

They can afford it.

Michigan and Harbaugh have the ability to recruit from all over the country. Michigan is about to officially be 'back'. Just live with it.

Am I the only one who thinks his attitude lends itself to bouncing around and enjoying life as it comes? "Ha...uh, sure. I'll go frick shite up over there for a few years." Seems he really enjoys coaching and doesn't give a frick where it is, dude just wants to enjoy himself. Who the frick cares about all the other shite having to do with why going back to college is a bad "career move."
