I hate what the office of the presidency has become (not an Obama hate thread)

I don't know how the hell it happened, but the presidency has been transformed from an office that should be held by a qualified, capable leader, to an office that should be held by a figure that symbolizes the "social progress" of a nation. It's why things like "first woman president", or "first black president" are important to people.
Could be a potentially dangerous trend. The office of the presidency was never set up to be held by a figure whose very holding of the office is considered unprecedented. The office of the presidency was set up to be held by a competent leader who adheres to the guidelines of Article II of the constitution.
The reason I am saying this is because there will be millions upon millions of woman voting for Hillary solely because she is a woman, without even looking at her stances. For these voters, what matters is that the presidency is a symbol of social progress, not competence, moral decency, and prudent rule.

This might happen twice, counting Obama.

Do you watch the nightly news? Social issues dominate. Gender and race issues dominate. At some point the populace begins to accept that our national fate hangs in the balance over these issues.

Agreed. Without mentioning the current President by name, and it's certainly not exclusive to him,but the Office has been "Celebritized"-half politics, half People Magazine. It's just where a feminized society naturally drifts over time, Imho. That's how chicks roll. You leave the house and the news is on, you come back and they are watching Real Housewives. It never fails.
Edit-Watch Good Morning America some time. I knew it was bad. I had NO IDEA it was THAT bad.

This. We've had some pretty inept men occupy that office. Apart from the first few presidents who all had a hand in the founding, it's been a crapshoot. Some statesmen, some hacks of the worst sort. It's not exclusive to recent history.

If a community organizer was "qualified", then this ignorant bitch is too, if only by virtue of office held.
She couldn't keep her husband's cock in check, so how will she stand up to the real dick fricks like Putin or whatever the Iranian leader's name is?

It's called "Affirmative Action" and it has been an abysmal failure!!!!

What's funny is the progress can only come from a candidate on the left. A first black or woman president can't come from the GOP or else they are eviscerated by the media and Libs. Look at Palin or guys like Ben Carson considering running. The true colors of the left show that it isn't progress they want, but rather using race/gender to garner votes from those who feel victimized die to their race or gender, in order to win elections and further a leftist agenda.they can't win on pure leftist ideals without lying and making up faux social issues
True progress would be naturally electing a person based on his/her qualifications and policy and not looking at gender or skin color as reasons to vote for or against.

You have way too much hate going on inside.

No hate. She is ignorant. Not what she said, but how she said it during the probe into Benghazi proved that. There was an entirely more responsible and less reactionary way to respond to the simple questions being asked. She let her emotions get the best of her, and that can not be a common thing with a job like the PRESIDENCY. It just can't.
As for her inability to control her household, I stand by that remark. It says to me that she couldn't control her home life, a situation like the Benghazi probe, etc... What would lead me to think that if she had the keys to the nation she wouldn't take her hands off the wheel when things start to get out of control?

The republic is in decline. It's just that simple. We're Rome, essentially. The setting changes, but human nature never does.

Close. It started with giving women the right to vote. Women view govt as caretaker and provider. This tendency goes back before women's suffrage through the 19th amendment. Individual states preceded that and found a huge shift toward increased taxes for social spending.
