Should Mr. Garner's police record be considered when determining that the police were justifed in arresting him? It appears that he was very well known by the police and his history when they decided to do so.
Street thug Eric Garner had at least eight domestic incident reports filed against him, including several for unwanted sexual touching.
One of them even involved throwing his newborn grandchild and his daughter out of his car, NYPD sources told Gotnews.com.

Funny how it's almost never the pillars of the community who get into these incidents, isn't it?
Policemen are so fortunate that they get to deal with these saints.

They may have been justified in arresting him, but they could have gone about it without choking him out.
And his previous record is irrelevant in this instance.

quote:So, having not got much traction with their ~30 ARRESTS~ [for incredibly petty crimes] [and no convictions] talking point, the NYPD is now tattling to the #TCOT sewer main about uncorroborated "reports" which may or may not be absolute flights of fancy?

He must be white because only white people could do all of that and still be on the streets.

What a garbage website...and, as I see it, if you've ever had trouble with the law in the past you're fair game for assault and asphyxia. Got it.

The first two words in that article are 'street thug.' THat was enough for me.

Why does everything have to be so absolute? Can't it be that the cops were justified in an arrest but not justified in the use of force?

He is black and the police are involved, therefore it is the fault of the police. That is how it works.

This was not police brutality.
This was not racially motivated.
This was a tragic death because someone who broke the law and resisted arrest was too fragile and died accidentally.
I could see a lawsuit because of the incorrect procedure used in the "choke hold" contributing to his death.

I saw his wife interviewed on "Meet the Press" I felt a little less sorry for the guy after that interview. He didn't deserve to die but he made bad decision after bad decision. His wife warned him over and over not sell ciggs on that street. Begged him to do something else. She said he had asthma and couldn't work at with the Parks Dept. because it made him sick. I don't know why working with the Parks Dept would make him sick. She even admitted that he was a lazy man with a Police record.

Angry White Guys are the only folks I know who possess the mental gymnastics to look at the Eric Garner video and conclude that the cops had a right to kill him. Of course these same folks have no interest in George Zimmerman's rap sheet because his skin color renders it meaningless.
