Do you think students should be allowed to postpone finals due to the Garner decision?

"Columbia Law School is allowing students to postpone their final exams if they feel too disturbed by the recent grand jury decisions not to indict police officers in the deaths of two unarmed black men, including 43-year-old Eric Garner on Staten Island."

Grow the frick up. If they can't handle that, then they won't handle looking a client in the eye when they lose out on 100k in profits in civil litigation or send a client up for 30 years.

"Your honor, we cannot file our appellate brief because we are too upset about a decision made by the local grand jury."

This will certainly teach responsibility to those lawyers-to-be.

Every single one of those pussies will be a failure in the real world.

I'm about to march into F. King Alexander's office and tell him that the porn I watched this morning was way too softcore and I'm going to need to postpone my finals.

Said it in the PT thread on this...if I was interviewing a Columbia law grad over the next three years, I'd ask if they postponed their exams and if they did, I'd ask them to leave my office.

Maybe the extra time to study will help them catch their breath.

But seriously though, delaying exams over this?

How the hell did Garner and Brown become the most prominent racial "injustices" in this country?

Neither is a case of any national importance.

Cop killings of black men are a drop in the bucket when you look at national murder statistics by race.

Both "victims" fought with the cops and had criminal issues.

Blacks get screwed by the justice system. One guy locally spent twenty years in Angola for a rape that he clearly did not commit. He had no criminal record. He did not do anything to provoke his fate (e.g. fight with the police).

I am far more concerned with these types of injustices - where a black man with no prior involvement in the criminal justice system gets shafted - than cases where someone fights with the cops.
