I killed a doe yesterday for the sole purpose of making nothing but venison sausage out of it. I'd like to take it to Double D on Monday, but have no reference to go by.

Anyone had a deer processed there?

It's ok. Go buy a pack of the pork sausage to see if you like it. I wouldn't bring my deer to DDs

They produce very good smoked sausage but debone it yourself. They run it through a deboning machine and there is always chunks of bone in the sausage.

Also they close at 3 or 3:30. Learned that the hard way last year.

They do mass batches now so you can be getting meat that wasn't cleaned properly or in time. Not many places that are worth a shite on the north shore. There is a guy in husser that's suppose to be good.

Your best route and the one I will be taking next year is to do your own.

DD sausage sucks plain and simple...

Have it processed at Service Meats On Lee Rd. near Million Dollar Rd...Bruce knows what he is doing...(985) 893-7202

best smoked deer sausage you'll ever eat...

Ronnie's Boudin on Airport Rd in Hammond does a great job on deer sausage. I was skeptical until I tried some that my uncle had done there. I'll be taking mine there
