I can't relate to the mindset of someone who is pro-Union

Where does that belief system come from? Family tradition? A sense of victimhood?

Solidarity. Class consciousness.

Id say both...
To add on those points, the view that the company is the "bad guy". However, if you look at the amount of money the unions actually make, they are as bad if not worse than the companies that the people work from.
Union organizers are fricking thieves or suck off of the people they claim to be helping.

Sounds like politicians. One in the same.

Laziness. They want the same compensation as hard workers without actually doing the hard work.

I'm wiling to bet unions have broken more companies than companies have broken unions. And I'm a former union member.

I can see it to some degree--in theory it's about better protections for workers
Doesn't necessarily work that way in practice though.

Yup...
And much in the same, Unions can make promises and not be held accountable. Its absolutely amazing the restrictions that the govt puts on what a business can say to members and what a union can.

They have a bigger voice can earn more money as a group than by themselves. Pretty easy to understand the mindset.

i get into this with my mom (she's pro union) a bit. i don't want to be stuck in a bureaucratic system where my age leads to my promotion, where i'm stuck behind inferior, lazier, and ineffective workers. i want my own merit to allow me to advance
union psychology is typically wrapped around the idea of security. those who oppose unions typically have a belief system more aligned with stephan molyneaux, who says, "a safety net is a noose".

Yeah, but when you take into account what they pay out in dues, it can come close to being a wash.
I think it was VW who recently gave insight as to what the pay would be if they unionized. They were welcome to a union vote because they had made their case. I think the number quoted was $1hr less after unionization is what the employees would essentially be earning.

It's like the joke about a union member going to Las Vegas, and looking for a union brothel. Finally found one, was assured the girls were well taken care of, etc.
Satisfied, he informed the madam that he would really like to have the cute little redhead.
The madam replied "I'm sure you would, sir, but (pointing to an old, fat bitch sitting in the corner) Ethel here has seniority".

It would really help if yall would educate yourselves the history of the labor movement and how and why unions came to be. It wasn't all that long ago when workers had essentially zero protections.

Yes, Henry Ford had machine guns on factory roofs and hired thugs. Now the union guys are the thugs.

the constitution, which says people have the right to peaceably assemble.
There is strength in numbers, and they have more bargaining power collectively, duh
Why do you hate freedom?

The FIRST Executive Order our next Republican President in January 2017 should issue is an EO summarily reversing every EO issued by Odumbf*ck.
The SECOND EO our next Republican President should issue would state that Unions are not allowed to donate any money, time, or resources in any way, shape, manner, or form to any political candidate or political cause without the 100% approval by closed vote of every member of such union.
You will see these intellectual bankrupt scumbags crying like a bunch of pussies extolling the virtues of Citizens United and claiming that these union's First Amendment rights have been violated because they'll claim unions are people under the First Amendment. Our own Lil' Rexy will be crying the loudest.
