Harris - Miles response on radio show told alot IMO

I didn't listen to Miles show last night, but Dandydon posted the following on one question:
"When asked by Donald from Vicksburg why Harris has received 50% of the snaps in practice yet has not received more playing time, Miles answered by saying, “We’ve chosen not to make the decision on our future quarterback until down the road. That’s why he’s getting 50 percent of the reps.” Miles also said they are trying to put Harris in a position where he can make some explosive plays without encumbering him with the whole offense. In his closing statement to Donald, Miles emphasized that Anthony Jennings is currently the quarterback who makes the team better over a range of things."
Contrary to what most ranters think, Miles and Cam are not idiots. They know football and are playing the best players that help the team win. Cam needs to teach better, but I sense they are disappointed with the QB play overall themselves. The response by Miles above tells alot IMO. It sound like they are frustrated with Harris because they know he is capable of more.
If I could paraphrase, Miles is saying..."we are waiting for Harris to take the reins of this team. Right now, he just is not getting it fast enough. If we put him in the game, we are limiting us even more than what you see with Jennings. So in the meantime, what you see is what we can do. Period"
My opinion...I wouldn't expect to see Harris play much this year, but that is probably more of a testament to Harris still not knowing the offense well enough. I also believe that he can still win the job in the spring despite not playing much this year. That will require Harris devoting himself to the offense though and working.

I don't think we can be any more limited

If this was an interview, the follow up questions should have been...
Excuse me Les, but don't you think it's possible that
Anthony Jennings is currently the quarterback who makes the team better over a range of things.
because you choose to NOT
encumber him (Harris) with the whole offense
18 year old kids are encumbered with an entire offense every year and some are shining. If you don't have an offense that a 19 year kid can encumber....thats on YOU!

But when the season is pretty much over and it doesn't really matter whether you win the Ark, A&M or Bowl game, nows the time to throw him out there and see what he can do. He did that with Jordan Jefferson although it was because Lee got hurt and Jefferson ended up showing something when he got the opportunity and Harris is arguably more talented than Jefferson

bullshite, Miles is too stubborn and bully headed. He did the same thing on 1-9-12

i like what you see.
we can only see what we can see.
it is all in the now!
we can only see the future thru the lens of our past.
we make the choice to see pessimistically or optimistically.
we make the choice to live in fear or faith or now.
what is, is.

Cam's offense is complicated due to the multiple formations, checks at the line, etc. It's just sad that our QB situation is so shitty that we are calling for a true freshman to play the most important position on the field.

Giving the starting QB only half the snaps in practice seems odd. That can't be helpful to either of them. The starter isn't getting most of the reps and the backup thinks he's getting reps to play, but doesn't.
I guess it's true when they say if you have 2 QBs you have none.

Then I blame Les Miles of holding Jennings back. Our QB that "gives the team the best chance at success", needs the lions share of reps at practice.
Hey Pac, here's a hint: all of Les' answers are BS.

What's funny is that Miles is "playing for victory" like we have championship aspirations. Jennings gives us the best chance to win what? The Texas Bowl? Who gives a shite about that at this stage? I know coaches coach to win games, but come on Les, really! Sounds like Les is more concerned with padding his stats.

Kendell Beckwith disagrees with this.

Yeah, ok.
Not sure how anything can be more limited than 0 points and 123 yards of offense on 9 possessions.
AJ has averaged 26 yards and .667 points per possession over the last 3 games.
There's nothign needed to know. Hand it off right, hand it off left, quick slant to the first down marker or deep throw down the sidelines.
Outside of that, it should be read option, which he knows how to do b/c he's an athlete, and is what they should do just about all game with him.

I agree with this. Auburn was probably not the best situation to start Harris. And you raise a good point about our complicated offenses. I do think Miles and Cam need to reassess whether the current state of college football is not conducive to complicated offenses anymore. In my opinion, you stick with your offense through next year. If it's still too complicated, then major changes need to be made, including the OC. Cam is not earning his money right now. It's not surprising that Harris is not getting it this early. It is surprising that Jennings is so bad. QB development is lacking at LSU and that's on Cam.

We are severely limited as if.. So why waste precious meaningful experience now that we have 4 fricking losses? We aren't winning much any ways.. So yeah

And why don't you give them credit for making this change? People forget how out of position Kendall used to get himself. Everyone knew Welter was too slow, but beckwith had to learn the position first then they made the change.

How is that complicated for the qb?
He only needs to know what kind of handoff to the RB and which side to give it to him.
