Really curious what another year will do for him.
I admire the self restraint and your commitment to building quality.
On the other hand, you really have no idea if he'll survive another year. Theres no assurance his dumb arse wont get hit by a car while he's chasing a doe tonight.
My point is he's solid now and as a mainframe 4x4 he can only go so far. If you've killed or are seeing better then let him walk.
Bottom line, if it were me I'd be happy to take the bird in hand and would harvest him now if given the opportunity. He's a mature whitetail and a heck of a trophy for anyone.

Thanks guys, I've seen him twice now. Once at 100 yards and Friday at around 30 yards, never would come into a shooting lane so I had to just watch for a while. Zone I'm in it's pretty much bow only so if I get a chance I think I'll take him. If he makes it until next year I may have to camp out come November.

Please elaborate, do you think he might be a 5x5 next year or are you simply saying that he will be adding to the 4x4 frame?

He seems to have a knack for growing non-typical points, if you are feeding protein it will only help develop that. If you have confidence in your neighbors I would let him walk and see what happens. I shot an awesome mainframe 4x4 last year with junk everywhere that ended up scoring out as my best deer ever.

I don't know.
I'm guessing him no less than 3.5 because of the kickers and junk around the brow tines.
He's not showing any real exceptional tine length in the pics other than those killer brow tines.
I see him getting heavier and probably more junk if anything. I'm still shooting him now...

Not really feeding anything right now but he is surrounded by thousands of acres of rice and soybeans. Mostly I'll put out a few feed stations for pics and then feed heavy late January and February. Minerals out early spring.
As far as neighbors, the landowners son will hunt about 5 days total and then get bored. One other hunter about a mile away and then no one else for another couple of miles. Most won't hunt this area because of the 900 yard walk to get to a stand.

Closest thing to a fence is rusted to hell and about 6 inches off the ground now.
I wish I hadn't deleted all the other pics, I have a baby 8 with split brow and this fugly guy begining to show some signs of future trash. A lot of it in the area.

Another year could add 20 inches. They grow the most in my opinion between 3 and 4.
