Anybody have any experiences with them. Just got a quote for one and it was close to 11k. WTF ? Do they really cool things better than other refrigerators

No. You buy them for the look.

I'd say this is the same concept as a Range Rover versus a Kia. They both get from a to b. But one cost more.

They won't need to be replaced every 5 years like the best buy brands. 20-25 year fridge.

What kind of shitty things are you doing to yor fridge?

I mean I'm all for buying nice stuff but I almost chocked when I saw that quote

I have one and it is built to another level--it is not about looks.
Also--look at Meile--German made. Built like a tank.

If it's for a regular household, it's most probably overkill. I hear they have a history of needing more service work than regular brands. If you have a ton of $$$ though it'd be a nice status thing to have.

On the contrary, they have lousy reliability compared to other brands. And servicing them is a bitch when they break. They're really just more keeping-up-with-the-Joneses bullshite.

hopefully Napoleon will stop in and post about their dependability...he is probably the most knowledgable here on appliances...
simple fact is, that regardless of the quality, buying sub zero, viking, etc. is more of a status symbol than anything else...

It's a must have for those who care to be in the "in crowd."
Anything less, you're just a pretender.

A business partner has one. A major part went out and it was like $2000 to fix and took quite a while to get the part.

I have one. It was 9k 6 years ago when we built our house. I let the wife splurge on the kitchen and that was one of the things she wanted. It's ok but definitely not 9k worth of ok. If I would have been a hardass and not let her pick out some stuff for herself I probably would have went with a big stainless LG for about 3k.

I have a Viking cook top and I hate it. fricker scars up and is definitely not worth the money. My favorite appliance is our fridgidaire double oven and it was the cheapest by a lot.

You only get 5 years out of a fridge?
The one in my shop is 20 years old and I've never had to fix a thing....probably costs $300

At like Range Rovers. Very expensive and not very reliable.

Also ice in the door is not standard and is put in after market style. 90% of the shite that breaks is the ice maker, they are not reliable at all.

I have a fridgidaire on my back porch thats been there 10 years. Before that it was in Brother in Laws garage for about 5. Never did anything to it as far as service and it works like a champ. If I was you OP id get a nice Stainless and spend my koney else where in the house.

Napoleon always says, the simple and cheaper brands are usually the most reliable
