I know that area well. Near Gaston Point. Rough neighborhood.

used to live in Long Beach just south of the SeaBee base about 2 miles from GP. Had a couple of bikes stolen and the cops would take me riding in the really rough parts back there looking for them. Showed me where all the drug houses were. I didn't feel safe even with them.

The silence of black on white cop crime outrage will be deafening

The man had a handgun and shot the officer multiple times in the body. The other officer was able to arrest him, 21-year-old Corey Donald Johnson of Gulfport, without incident.
How does this happen? I am for due process and all but this is a shoot the dude incident if ever there were one.

Courts I agree with you on. DOC on the other hand is the fault of the legislature. Today they're all about reducing the incarceration rate for PC purposes. That results in lessened sentences and defining deviancy down.

The officer is in stable condition now. He kept fighting after being shot and had the bad guy in handcuffs before back up arrived.

Yeah, in Cleveland they shoot a 12 year old for "reaching" for an airsoft gun. Here they manage to subdue and arrest an active shooter. Crazy, huh?

They were engaged in a fight when the bad guy grabbed the gun and shot the officer. The officer kept fighting until the bad guy was in cuffs.

What??
Some cops are obviously of superior character and skill than others.
This appears to be a good cop.
Pay the good cops more and tell the others to take a hike.
Quality not quantity.

Sorry, you sounded like a victim whiner in your post. I may have misunderstood.
