re: Reading this board, you'd think AJ was the only player on the field...

I don't disagree with your comment, but the defender would have to go through the receiver to defend a well thrown ball. That throw and catch should be successful most of the time.
I can agree with that. I just think that the only way you can sit with mouth agape at that misread is if the safety wasn't there. You can say Jennings missed one there, and he did, but it's not a mind blowing misread. Who do you think he is, Jordan Jefferson????

What the frick are you even trying to say?
I said the entire offense is a disaster, and based on salary and talent level, that is a major problem.
Whats most troubling is the REGRESSION of Jennings.
Vs Arkansas in 2013 he starts in our 1 yard line, hits Dillon Gordon out of the endzone, scrambles for first downs, and throws a bomb to dural after reading coverage to win the game
Hell against Wisconsin, his touchdown to Diarse was a thing of beauty. Hit him before he even made his break.
What the frick happened this year? The more film he watches the worse he gets. Great job, coaching staff. You all SUCK

Not to mention Gordon broke from the LB's two yards earlier and the Safety is still flat footed in the end zone. Even if the Safety gets there, he has to go through him to make a play.
Either AJ never looked at him, or he was comfortable making the throw. Both are big problems.

He was bad, but people are taking it too far. OL was horrible all game. WRs couldn't create separation for shite. I'm guessing Fournette was hurt also. The whole entire offenze looked completely shitty.

Good Lord this pic is painful to look at.
This is the BIG problem with AJ. Not only is he inaccurate but the dude seems wholly unaware of where the weakness in a given defense is.
Many people don't realize it but a high percentage of completions are the result of the QB identifying stuff like this prior to the snap. You read the coverage alignment and tell yourself, "if the LB does this or the Safety does that, I'm going to receiver X".
Near as I can tell, AJ has no concept of this.

so OTHER than benching AJ for Harris, and firing Leslie of course, I'm guessing there are really no other constructive changes or improvements this board can come up with. God forbid, this actually had something to do with the losing 2 on the OL and failed execution in several departments.

Our FG kicker has been nails his entire career. And 1 he missed was 47yards and very cold and windy.
OL has constantly gone up against 9 in th box all year long. This game we were without 2 OL, and our 2nd best OL in Vadal. Nobody respects our passing game so they just stacked the box and had their DBs on an island and we had a makeshift OL. If we would have just an average passing attack where teams would have to respect it, they would have to back out of the box which would make our OL look much better. And we have the most predictable offense in all of college football, which doesn't help our OL out at all. But the reason teams can stack the box is because of Jennings being the worst QB in college football.

Wow you made a post without a shitty tumblr gif. Congrats

It starts with the qb, and when you have to hide his inability from opposing defenses, it's never good.
Jennings gives defenses absolutely no reason to respect the possibility of a pass downfield, and they don't, which puts our offense at a severe disadvantage in every thing we try to do.

As someone who has cheered for AJ since Marietta H.S., I can tell you he is not improving...If you don't think teams game plan against us by taking away Dural, you don't know football. AJ missed Trey in the first half of the Bama game in a similar fashion; throwing into triple coverage...It is really time to give BH a real shot at moving this team

I can't blame him for that. Miles and Cam are control freaks. Jennings doesn't get to go under center until about 6 seconds are left. He never gets enough time to read the defense. They take entirely too long to get plays called in, then expect a guy to spot the weakness in the defense in 3-5 seconds before a delay of game.
As bad as Jennings is, they make him even worse.

More about his play over course of the season for me, he just doesn't have it. We need to see if Harris can actually play before we take another stab at recruiting qbs

This. Thank you.

QBs job is to get the ball to the player in a position to make a play. Not seeing open receivers, not finding ths single coverage and mismatches, not throwing receivers open ( back shoulder, etc.), missing open receivers, bad ball placement, throws that are too early or too late are all QB failures.
Jennings' failure to make plays and to take what the defense was giving him are busts. Unless you believe that Arkansas was able to both stack the box and still cover some of the best WRs in the country, then the failure was Jennings. If they were able to do both, then the failure is poor play calling or lack of talent for LSU. LSU has plenty of talent.
Obviously you're a QB guru. However, in Jennings' defense, Dural IS in a one on one matchup. In fact, I suspect that the coaching staff explicitly instructs the QBs that on passing plays if Dural is one-on-one, he's our best WR, and thus our best matchup. The TE is open there. Hell, the TE has been open at LSU for 6 years! But clearly his pre-snap read is to go to Dural. It looks as if he is looking right at the TE, although that is impossible to tell from the picture. However, if he is, I suspect it is in an effort to "hold" that safety sitting 5 yards behind Gordon so that he is not in the route when Dural breaks back inside (which he did on that play)

While that all makes sense in the way the play was designed, sometimes you have to scrap the design and simply go for the open receiver (what the defense is giving you). Because guess what, the defense has a design as well, and sometimes the defense design disrupts what the offense intended to do, but at a price because somebody will be open somewhere else.
It doesn't take a qb guru to notice that. All that is required are two eyes and a little common sense.

For the first time in over a decade, I was unable to watch or listen to the game on Saturday. Some would say it was a blessing. Maybe so...
But based on the postgame and all the buzz on these boards, I fully expected to watch the replay and see this QB horror show unfold. Ok- there were some God awful displays of incompetence- kicking game, O-line (after q1), play calling, even defense getting bashed pretty good. Not until late in the game did I see anything resembling an AJ meltdown. Yes, he made some bad decisions, and the fumble was boneheaded, but I'd put the blame on AJ at maybe 20% at best, with the rest spread around the team and coaching staff.
In a game where someone takes this amount of bashing (including al the crap he's getting on Social Media (death threats? really????), I'd expect to be able to find at least dozen or so major screw ups during the game at that position. Think JJ, Welter, ...
I'm just not seeing it. Maybe Harris should get the nod going forward. That's been my hope for a while...But to put the blame all on AJ for this one? Makes me wonder how many of the posters could identify more than a handful of screw ups? 5? I'd say no more than any other part of the team that took the field Saturday.
As for all the twitter comments, insults, death threats, etc.- people need to get a life. The best thing that happened was for all their comments (and names) to get posted in the Advocate article. May they endure the same.
If your point is that the entire offense sucks, I'm on board.

Harris needs his shot but what would be being said if LSU held on against bama and beat arkansas 20-17. Its amazing how a few plays here or there can change the opinions of so many.

Our offense would still be bad. We've won plenty of football games since Flynn left, and our offense was bad in probably 70% of them.
