I honestly have never dealt with anything like this.

I watch football alone in the dark sipping cheap whiskey with a loaded revolver. So no.

My mrs understands and appreciates football games.
she cheers for my team, i cheer for her team.

You talking to Jake from State Farm?

I'd rather not be home for games-especially for games like this weekend and I really try to stay busy without bothering the husband. It's like an unwritten rule of respect.

what i don't get is why these people (typically women, but in large groups sometimes guys) even show up to watch the game
Yep. My wife worked at ULM for five years. Her job basically required her to be at the games. She married me, left ULM and obtained the same type job here. She knew absolutely zero about football. I asked her "didn't you learn anything about the game in those five years?"
Her response - I went to the games to visit people.
Told her that shite was going to work with her new husband. She became a student of the game eventually but my patience was tried for about four years before her education took hold.

Solid.
"Well what are you wearing, Jake from State Farm"?
"She sounds hideous"

Nope, my girlfriend is more worried about why we aren't blitzing more effectively.

I don't have any problems but I also don't get into games like you
I probably watched about 60% of the plays Saturday, other time was playing with kids outside, visiting with friends, etc.

when my big friend group gets together for games (which is happening less and less now...f'in babies), there is usually a crazy TV area (typically outside if people start nervous-smoking while drunk) and a more stable tv area.
the wives/gfs who aren't into the game chill (usually inside) and talk about whatever and passively keep up with the game
the wives/gfs who are into the game will be around the action.
girlfriends must be able to handle this or they do not last long. if i go on a date in the fall, i typically bring a girl there to throw her in the fire early. if she can't handle my friends at our best, she doesn't deserve me at my worst

I actually usually get a nonfat grande chai tea latte with one pump of pumpkin spice. It's only 200 calories. I also don't get whipped cream on it.
