Go to a Porsche club track day at NOLA. There is a pretty decent amount - especially considering how few Porsches you see on the road compared to any other brand. Then hold a track day for any other specific car and see how few show up.
My dream car is actually a 911 Turbo, I just couldn't afford the turbo. And for anyone that doubts that a Panamera is a true Porsche, look at the performance stats for a Panamera Turbo - it will hang with most supercars (which ain't bad for a sedan). For that matter, look at the stats on a Macan Turbo. It will hang with most muscle cars.

Well, not to it's maximum every time you're in it, true.
My next car will have the upgraded carbon ceramic brakes. I won't use them to their full potential, but when I need them, they'll be there.

I think SUVs are much worse than a sedan. You're not a serious performance company anymore when you're producing two different SUV models. I hope my life never goes downhill enough to where I'm considering purchasing a SUV.

Don't mind him, his screen name pertains to his Helicopter he owns and his immense amount of Swagger.

Props to you. Seriously.
I'm 45, and just like you, I lusted after the 911 as a kid. Even had a coffee table book about Porsche sometime in the early 1980's. That was all we had back then, as there was no internet to browse for things (ad nauseam) like now.
Always thought the 930 was the bad arse big brother to the 911. Really liked the 928, since it had a V8.
Then came the Slope Nose and later the 959. But you probably know the history better than me.
Enjoy the shite out of that car.
No Porsche for me anytime soon, but my friend just got a Macaan Turbo. O. M. G.

I respect your lust for the 911, but please don't OMG a Macan. The high performance SUV segment is just silly. Drove a M5, then a X5M on a track. That's when you realize that SUV crap is pointless. M5 was 10x more fun. I just assume ignorance for people who get high performance SUVs. If you ever drove a M3, you'd wish life was over in your Cayenne Turbo. Get a E63 AMG if you need the room. Get a diesel if you need to tow. All I can afford is a C63 AMG, but no one needs to remind me that I'm a better person than any SUV driver on the road. 911 drivers, I'll submit to y'all. Y'all win that one.

It is blasephy & ugly but so is the Cayenne.....& smaller Macan SUV. Unfortunately for all those purists out there, those vehicles are huge cash cows for Porsche.

Times change, folks. I guess we'd all rather that things were like they were 40 years ago?

Car people can be really anti-change.
Does it go faster?
Good!

Vette owners can be pretty bad. I remember when they discontinued the flip-up headlights and everyone almost had an aneurysm.

I guess people should enjoy all the extra unsprung weight all cars have gained this century?

Exactly what I was thinking of.
I mean, it's a neat feature, but it's dated and it's a bunch of extra weight.

I'll reiterate my point...not to you. But just to reiterate.
I know a few guys with 911s. One drives it the way it should be driven. That involves track time. I was just driving in BR and all I could think was "Would I hit the auto-launch and make 80 mph before the next light?"
If money were not an issue...say I was Martini...I still don't know that I'd have a 911 even though it's my favorite car in the price range. Blasting around in a comfortable Porche that I could daily drive is more appealing than the fastest car that I could never drive to it's potential.

You think the C7 will change the vette culture any?
Also, what are the real chances of a mid-engine model? I think people would for over 130k for it.

I agree. Want to know why people drive jacked up trucks and fast cars? Cause it's fruckin fun that's why. It has nothing to do with a lack of anything, other than restraint in some moments!
For the price of a 911 Turbo S, there are other cars I would buy, for sure. That said, for the performance of a 911 Turbo S, there is nothing you can buy for that price, yet.

I remember when I was 27. I wasn't foolish enough to think I'd have a 911 Turbo and life by the balls.
What do you plan on doing in the next 13 years?
