What should I expect? Seems like the weather may not cooperate

They're awesome guides. Been twice. They'll take you out at night and let you stay until yall shoot a limit plus the deckhand's limit. Very patient people. They clean your fish and have them on ice for you to pick up in the morning. This was a few years ago, granted, but I believe it's still ran by the same folks.

Shoot under them and bring lots of beer . When the guide rounds a corner and says get ready , have your bow drawn . It's a kick in the arse ....

Drinking a shitload of beer. Shooting redfish in the motherfricking face. Riding around all night in a sweet arse airboat.
I mean, what else could you want?

This is the last trip I made with them in August. They are top notch as far as bowfishing in south louisiana goes.

We are staying in Grand Isle for the weekend, hoping for good weather and bringing some fish back

From what I've heard this is the best time of the year for big redfish in the marsh. Goodluck. The most important thing I've found is clear water.

Always went in the summer , give us a report . If ya'll are missing the guide can make some damn good shots from his perch ...

Top notch guides for sure, I have been three times with them and limited out with 30 reds every time. I usually go in feb and march. Like everyone has said they clean your fish and take care of you. If you can choose go with capt daryl. He has the bare aluminum boat with led lights. He's awesome and loves a group of guys who can drink and shoot

Should not be legal . Sorry, hard for me to not compare this to shining wild animals. I fish their area from time to time and see numerous half stuck fish that got away with big gashes on them, many undersized. Have fun....

No you don't. That area is my backyard, in fact I fish a lot of the areas they do during the day and have for years and have never seen any of these "half stuck" fish.

Just did a trip with them last month for my bachelor party. The best man booked them after having heard great reviews. Besides it being my bachelor party and surrounded by my best friends I had a pretty bad experience with them.
1. Not once during our stay there did any guide or deckhand even introduce themself. They all acted as if they were doing it as a punishment. Was extremely unprofessional.
2. Our captain listened to a lsu game the entire time with earbuds in, and it was clear he wasn't interested. We would just get on a bank and cruise. If we ran into a pocket of fish and all shot he would just yell for us to reel up, never slow down during areas of fish, never called out a fish, nothing at all.
3. At 11:00 he let us know he had another charter in the morning that he was taking out and needed to head in. At this point we had 7 fish with 5 people shooting. I literally shot 3 times the whole trip. One guy didn't let an arrow fly at all.
4. The worst part of the trip was after we get back and settle up with money we decide to sit downstairs and wait for the other boat to come in. They roll in at 3:00 with 16 reds and a few gar.
5. We wake up with the fish cleaned and on ice for us. Once we get home we decide to split up the fillets. We empty out the ice to find two small freezer bags of fillets (like 12 pieces). I dunno wtf they did with the rest.
Tl/dR version. Pray you get a captain that gives a shite and actually wants you to shoot. Bring lots of beer. It helps all.

How can these guys tell what a 16'' fish looks like in the water? I'm been fishing for quite some time and have caught my fair share of reds and still can't precisely gauge the overall length just by eyeballing. I wonder what they do with the undersize ones they stick?

Hopefully I have a great time, seems like your experience is an anomaly tho. Everyone usually raves about marsh masters.

Had a similar experience on a bachelor party.

Well shite, everyone here said marsh masters was the way to go

They are the best. I can only imagine what went on with a bachelor party. Regardless, shooting seven fish with that many peeps is hilarious. The hunts are timed, but the guy will stay and work hard if treated respectfully.
The other guy who left at a certain time to come in made the right decision for a bunch of reasons I'm sure. No Way he cut the hunt shorter than the agreed upon time. Sometimes it's like a duck hunting guide when ducks aren't flying..he knows when to cut it short.
Just go, shoot 8 inches below the fish, have a beer and enjoy your friendships. Get there early, have a good dinner at the restaurant just down the road.
We fish with Darrell only. We bring cool shite to him each trip and he knows we work hard to fish and tip well.
Basically, treat the guide how you would want to be treated if you were expected to go beyond the call of duty.

What kind of range should the tip be? Going to be 6 of us, I am sure it depends on how many fish we eventually end up with.
