Time to turn the big stuff over to SFOD-D for a while

I agree. I wonder what the special ops community feel about it.

I remember that article too. He was being forced out - yet there are at least a dozen pinheads on here on yammering that he left early and knowingly shorted his position on retirement benefits. It happens a lot - member will often leave on their own accord so their discharge will read voluntarily instead of medical or administration. I have had friends who were medically retired before their time. Incidentally the military is currently offering 15yr retirements.

I am displeased with some of the SEALs and how they've been acting like a bunch of fame seeking prima donna's recently.
I understand I'll probably get some downvotes for this

Are you being dense? He pulled the trigger before the Navy did. It was going to happen one way or the other. He wanted to remain in the service. I have been in for 26yrs as a CWO4 - this happens a lot although usually to fatties and retirement eligible frick ups.

I haven't seen a delta movie throughout the whole conflict. In fact, they didn't even come out and take credit for getting Saddam. Haven't heard anything else from any other special forces people either, just SEALs
Are they less professional now? Wouldn't the same exact shite that happens to Seals happen to all branches? Why do they all of a sudden feel the need to brag about everything and try to make money off of it all? I know that this administration was leaking info about the OBL stuff directly to the media and was actually helping them make movies. Are they still doing it? I'm also curious as to whose pockets the movie money goes into

Then he should have waited four more years before capitalizing on the situation...
He just wants to sale books

Didn't a couple of SEALs already come out and discuss the whole thing, they had a reenactment on CNN or whatever. Maybe I'm dreaming
What happened to all the "he's a SEAL, but you'd never know it" talk?
I would assume all this self-inflicted pub has got to be rankling those guys?

Grammar: No - still active duty but retiring soon.
I completely agree with those saying he shouldn't have gone public or otherwise try to capitalize on the situation. SEALs in general are acting like publicity hounds compared to Delta Force, SAS and other spec ops types.

I have only friends/clients connections to the special operations community, and those connections aren't especially revealing, but my understanding is that SEALs have always had a reputation for being in/seeking the spotlight more.
Now, that could be that they've traditionally gotten more hollywood attention, and I think most of it is just banter among groups, but I've always heard it.
All the Federal LEOs I know talk shite about USSS and FBI too, likely for similar reasons. There is always some group that gets the bulk of the attention/credit.
