Do you not agree with this?
It's accepted to fight in Hockey and Nascar (predominately white sports) but anytime a NBA player gets in a fight he looked at like a thug.

Has to do with the sport, not race. Hockey allows fights in their rules. Baseball allows coaches to run out on to the field during the game and get right in the ump's face and act like a complete fool. Could you imagine if Les ran out to midfield during a game to yell at a ref? He would get grilled in the media. But Paul Mainieri can do it and no one bats an eye. Its just different sports.

And as for people talking about the Nascar fight being cool, I don't know how many really think that. Just a bunch of redneck hillbillies IMO.

the bigger double standard is with mlb bench clearing brawls over petty shite imo.

There are plenty of black players in baseball.

This has nothing to do with race like Cowherd was saying.

It has to do with the culture of the sport and/or reputation of the player.

If Artest gets in a fight, he's a thug or goon. If Tim Duncan gets in a fight, people will support him.

It's about reputation.

And that's not a political comment it's societal.

I hate basketball and NASCAR equally, and I have no trouble for what he said. Not because of race, but because of the lives these guys lead in the public's eye.

The majority of basketball players are thugs, and that's why they're all broke within 5 years of playing.

Jeff Gordon is squeaky clean. When he throws a punch IT"S BIG NEWS

Bu Cowherd is in the entertainment business, and you just brought his show up on a popular message board, so he accomplished his goal.

This may have been true at one time, but not anymore.

Most of the NBA players are middle-class kids who grew up playing AAU travel ball.

I wish the NBA was still thuggish, I'm not really digging the whole "lets try to see who can be the most effeminate" deal.

Yeah, he typically does. For a good while it was mentioning gun control in every other conversation. I don't care whether you support gun control or oppose it, but that's not the reason I am listening to a sports show. Talk about sports and keep your philosophical views to yourself. He got kind of soap-boxey about it for a while because people would tweet him and ask him to stop talking about politics and he seemed to revel in it, which made it very annoying. I still think he is pretty good as far as ESPN radio shows go. SVP and Rusillo is the GOAT ESPN radio show though.

Hockey fights are pretty fair, and have judges They don't start with a buncha guys yelling "thug-like" obscenities then do the whole "hold me back cuh" thing.

NBA fights remind me of fights my friends and me used to get in during pickup basketball and football games.

The NBA fights aren't thuggish, they're childish, compared to an average fight in some other sports.

He loves some LSU and SEC football though

Maybe still is but he doesn't talk about it anymore...ESPN told him we're the SEC Network so he's knocked that stuff off for a long time and mostly talks about being an SEC guy.
