My nephew, who's coming home from somewhere in the Middle East today, did that training in AZ. I remember him being excited beforehand because they were going to get to blow up stuff in training.

The range to target is listed in meters on those videos. It's on the bottom either to the left of right of center, I can't remember which.

Do the helicopters have a capability to muffle their noise? I know the Bin Laden Seal Team Six choppers do but that is top secret shite that not all guys have.

Apache

Off topic, but one of the coolest things I saw in Iraq was when our convoy was heading into Fallujah, and we had Apache over watch. We started taking fire and were getting small arms fire pretty hard so we called for air support/show of force and two Apaches came out of seemingly nowhere and couldn't have been more than 150-200ft off the ground, flew the length of the convoy, popping flares and went straight up, spun, and made it rain.

shite made my dick move.

Anyway..carry on.

The AC-130 that most anyone on this board has dealt with in the past does not have a 30mm gun.

Nothing wrong with that, just know that you have a better job than 90 percent of the enlisted force.

they are pretty quiet and at night hard to tell the direction, with that infared what would the insurgents do anyway? Either sit still or run

Insurgents like to play hide and seek, especially at night. Once they hear their impending doom they'll hide under blankets, drop their weapons (ROE,) and other dumb tactics. For the most part the birds are pretty stealthy and quiet until they arrive on target and then it becomes too late. A lot of the times birds cover the movement or the whole mission and some insurgents just don't give a crap and get their jihad on.
