What's the best kids tablet for a 3 year old and 4 year old?

I was gong to get two of those new kids version of the kindle fire HD but the reviews on it are absolutely horrible.

Kindle fire is great for kids. I've got two for my kids. Very easy to manage their content and access. Very inexpensive. I've never had any issues with them that a simple restart didnt fix. I do have otter box's on both as they did a number on my wives iPad so we don't want the same fate for those. I'd say we've had them for about 2 years.

I wonder if the kindle fire and the kids kindle fire have different interfaces, people seem to love the regular kindle fire but are shitting all over the kids version.

Nexus 7 with a good case.
Best value and can last them a long time. My little girl has had one for 3 years and she absolutely loves it.
ETA - You of course can set the Play Store to only display kid friendly content, etc

Ah the new golden age of parenting, shove some electronics in their face so they'll be quiet and behave in public.... Soon they can not go anywhere without their tablet, DS, etc. they break and lose an expensive item and then you"ll have to buy another.

My kids have been using these since last Christmas..They do everything you would expect and are pretty durable

And their whole life it's going to be expected that they'll be connected. I have no problem with putting time limits on using tech and forcing what we consider "normal" childhood activities, but you're probably putting your child at a competitive disadvantage for the future they will live in if you completely shield them from technology. My dad has used a computer every work day for the last 30 years and he still makes rookie level, general computer usage mistakes. By contrast I grew up using computers, since about 1st grade, and that familiarity and well established muscle memory has been very useful in my career working with computers.

While some of this may have a little merit, having their own devices at 3 & 4 years old is a horrible idea.

We have the Kindle Fire and it is not very good. Slow and freezes often. Won't make that mistake again. If I had to choose one today for the kids I get the cheapest Ipad I could find.

Why? It's just a toy no different than a book, crayon, or fav movie. It just happens to be all in one. My kids still play with other toys, use crayons, play out, etc. But by giving them a tablet, I don't have to worry about them messing up my computers and tablets or worry about the content they see.
You can also manage the time on the tablet to whatever time period you want. Yes my kids fight me sometimes when I tell them its time to put it away but that happens with any toy or activity when its time to do something else.
Also for the other poster that said parents use these to control their kids while out at restaurants, so? Restaurants have been trying to help with this for a long time by providing crayons to the kids. My parents just flat never took me anywhere because we wouldn't sit still and bothered other people.
Kids today will be just fine. No need to be helicopter parents.

We have 2 Samsung Galaxy Tab 2s. Got them when they first came out. The battery just quit in one of them but we will be getting my son the latest model for Christmas. We were very satisfied.
ETA; we originally purchased NABIs for them...... we returned them and paid a little more for the Samsungs.
