Oh lawd the popularity argument. Platinum in a week, eh? Well, in that case, let me show you the GOAT musician; a music video with a billion+ views.
What exactly was he using with the Beatles, if not an appeal to popularity? An appeal to respect? Taylor Swift is incredibly respected to anybody open to her type of music. The Beatles were incredibly respected by anybody open to their type of music too. Others thought it was total shite fluff. I'm not the one trying to make the comparison.

BV, we need to whip this board back into shape...This place has fricking sucked cock the past 4-5 days. The lack of Danman, Burt, and Andre has lead to truly dismal troll attempts such as the thread we are currently posting in.
I'm actually getting work done at work because this place has turned into a gaping abyss. That scares me

She actually just released it as the 2nd official single off the album yesterday.
It's going to be huuuuuge.
Yeah, I guess what I meant that wasn't released before the whole album such that it got a head start like Shake It Off, Out of the Woods, and Welcome to New York.

I think Taylor Swift is one of, if not the, best musicians of the last 10 years. I think the Beatles were meh.

Where art thou Danman?
Posted on 10/28/14 at 10:08 am to TheSexecutioner
Yeah, those just weren't official and on the charts/radio like Blank Space is about to be.
Wonderland is still my favorite song though.

I'm 33. The only person that I know personally who likes the Beatles -- like actively listens to them -- is one of my oldest brother's friends. So he's probably 42.
And with respect to the above, keep in mind that:
a) I'm by no means reclusive. I'm more like the antithesis of a recluse. So, without sounding like a dick, I've met lots and lots of people throughout my 33 year journey on Earth. And,
b) I love talking about music.
People don't like the beatles. The band never gets brought up. Nobody puts them on a playlist. You won't hear one their songs at a party. This conclusion is supported by what I believe to be a more than sufficient sample size.

I see where you're coming from but I think OP might be trolling.

I'm 25, and not a single one of my friends has ever listened to the Beatles. They know them, of course, and can probably name 1 or 2 songs by them, but that's it.
They're as irrelevant today as could possibly be.
I don't know wth this has to do with anything though, this board, from what I've ever seen, is mostly older people, with very weird older people taste in music. It's what I'd expect someone born and raised in Louisiana and is in their 40's to listen to, honestly. And they pretty much hate everything younger people listen to, especially mainstream.
It's whatever. Love me some TSwift.

So much fail in one post. I send my condolences to the entire midwest region and their apparent lack of refined music appreciation.

And you don't have a fricking clue about music that was made with actual instruments!
It's fine that you like Taylor Swift, but don't be so closed minded about different genres of music.

You are the 10 year old child who says that he hates history and math class because it's boring, and he doesn't see how it could ever apply to real life.

Nice try fgt, the average age on the music board is probably 23, with the only outliers being 13 year old 337guy and 70 year old Kefka

It's weirder for a 25 year old male to be championing Taylor Swift's new album

It's the classic KevinGates line
KevinGates was a better troll than UltimateHog ever dreams to be
Kevin just couldn't keep his material fresh

Nah, Beyonce's album was decent. You mad that hipsters don't have a monopoly on all the good albums?
Point of order. Hipsters slobbered all over Beyonce's album. She got rave reviews from most outlets, including from the usual hipper than thou sites. If we're gonna slam hipsters, let's at least slam them for their actual beliefs. They LIKE Beyonce, as a rule. And while all reviews aren't in for 1989, NME and Slant both gave it a solid review, and the reviews have been generally positive.
I'm just saying.
