Opinions on fishing kayaks

No set budget. Mostly fishing in small lakes for largemouth. No clue about the standing up but would love to hear the pros and cons of each.

Buy a Hobie Outback and be done with it. Save yourself time and money in the long run from upgrading to one later. Lots of good deals on used ones if new is out of your range.

Team Ascend checking in.
If you plan on doing a ton of kayak fishing, I'd probably get something nicer. I only use my kayak occasionally, I mostly take a boat or go offshore. Ascend FS12T was the most I could justify spending. I'm happy with it.

I've owned and fished from pirogues, canoes and now a kayak. In calm winds and non-choppy water, a canoe is a great fishing platform. You can stand, haul more and take a friend easier.
I prefer the kayak for longer paddles or in breezy conditions.

Unless you get a good deal on a used outback, I recommend getting a '15. The new seats are awesome.

I have the hobie PA. It's pretty awesome once your in the water. Can stand up, turn around, store about 7 rods comfortably, hold my tackle neatly, etc. But its a beast to move around. I actually found it easier to take my boat out (everything was stored away in my boat, just had to hook it up and launch). It's also expensive. I had the cash laying around when I sold my boat so I bought it. Probably not the wisest decision for me personally as I just had a son and am moving very far away from where I fish (plus I hope to buy another boat sooner than later). But if you really want the best experience on the water and want to do it in a yak, i don't see how anything else comes close.

Native Ultimate 12' is my suggestion if you're looking for a decent price rig; speed, weight, price, durability. You can get into base model, which I did, for roughly $750.

If you want a paddle powered kayak, look at Natives or Jacksons. I have a Native Slayer 14.5 and it's pretty awesome. I don't fish out of it enough, but I use it a good bit in Henderson during the spring. If you just want something for bass, you'd be fine with a 12'. I just got the 14.5' so I'd be cool with longer trips over salt water. 14.5' is a lot of boat though.

I have a 10' Ascend. It's a Bass Pro fishing kayak. It's a great boat, tracks well, 10' is better than 12' (More nimble & 1 person can carry it) Good storage.
Nice options for rod holders, sits well. \
I've had it on the Jacks Fork and Buffalo when the rivers were up. There was a 4" air gap (Ponca low water) on the Buffalo, we did 27 miles in 8 hours and it was a blast in that yak.

Hobie, Native, Wilderness, Jackson to name a few and give you a place to start.
Decide whether you want a kayak that you can sit in or sit on... The ones you sit on are those with scuppers and are self-bailing.
Then decide how you want to get around: conventional paddle? Newer peddle style? Electric motor?
Then come up with a figure you want to spend: be sure to allocate money for the necessary accessories you will need ( PFD, anchor, paddle, etc.)
Once those 3 things are determined, you can start to narrow down what is best for you. For example:
sky's the limit on budget, you want a SOT and you like the peddles? Go with a Hobie or Native Propel.
Sky's the limit, a SOT but you'd rather electric motor? Add an Evolve motor to a Hobie ($$$) or look at the new Old Town Predator XL. Or you can add a bass yaks kit to pretty much anything. Also keep in mind the local guys- KC kayaks can sell you one wired for a trolling motor.
