Actually I did check it when I filled up after the trip. Manual calc showed 19.4 but many automotive guys say the computer is more accurate due to inconsistencies in filling up

No reason not to buy. Toyota makes some of the best vehicles on the market, it will be damn near worry free. I've owned a couple of Toyotas including a 4 runner and love the brand. I like the tundra and think it looks better than comparable ford or chevy trucks. Some people are brand loyal, it just limits what you can buy.

Well you need to hold on to that one. I have never gotten near that. Especially driving 70 with a load.
I'm right around 15mpg, but that's 90% driving on the interstate at 80mph.

Hilux didn't even have 4WD until 1980...
most tiyotas don't need it, I just always had it to pull out obamchevys out of a mud poodle.

Well, when my leadfooted wife drives it it gets around 17 overall, still not too bad. What I have found is they are very acceleration and speed sensitive regarding mileage. You can see a big difference between 60-65 and 75+ in gas consumption. Pushing a lot of air at the higher speeds.

I get a chuckle out of the Tundra owners that cite their brake rotor and rear gear diameters. No concept of swept area or that the axles attached to that gear are thinner than a half-ton Ford or GM's.

And I like the Toyota's...just not sure where people are hearing that they are basically a 3/4 ton dressed as a 1/2 ton lol. Pretty sure they're the only 1/2 ton that uses a C channel frame too, except for maybe the Titan.

Test drove a GMC Z71 today, and I definitely liked it less than the Toyota. Still need to go look at the new Rams.
Here is the Toyota I looked at.

Your doing it right, drive them all and pick the one you like the best.

Not if you want a quality vehicle with reliability.

I do too. Two 4Runners in the family were great vehicles, except for one letting a connecting rod go on I-49. Camry was great too after taking it back to the dealer because the passenger door tried to fall off. Don't know what the deal is with the 3/4-ton in a 1/2-ton thing is coming from either. Ford actually hangs a 3/4-ton axle in th F-150's and I know certain GM 1/2-tons will get 3/4-ton parts with certain options. Think Toyota would have to make a 3/4-ton model in the first place...

I own a 2013 Tundra 4x4. My last truck (Chevy was built in Canada). I will never buy another GMC (I've owned several), wife drives a 2013 4 runner. My Tundra is the most comfortable vehicle I've ever owned. I'm 64 and owned a bunch.

This. At least you will get something back when it's time to sell or trade.
