Not overrated at all, but not every sandwich on their menu is great. The cubano with chips and the pickle is terrific. And add a bowl of the duck gumbo.
If you only want to spend $5 to $7 stick to Subway.

The pulled pork was flavorless
I had a similar experience. The only flavor I got from the pork was from the brine. Salty as hell, no smoky BBQ flavor. On top of that, they didn't really use any bbq sauce on the sandwich. On a bbq sandwich where the meat has actual bbq flavor, it is OK to use little to no BBQ sauce, but since the meat didn't really stand up on its own, I'd have liked a little more sauce to compensate.
I found the chips to be over salted as well.
One bright spot is the pickles, as other posters have mentioned. So, if spending $15 on a sandwich with little flavor is your idea of a good time, by all means hit up city pork. Otherwise, I'd just wait until the next time you are in New Orleans and hit up Butcher; the place city pork is desperately trying to be.

Excellent place, I've been 3 or 4 times now and enjoyed everything. From some reviews in this thread it seems they might be inconsistent, but I haven't experienced that yet.

I definitely think I like the concept of City Pork more than I like City Pork

I've only been once and I thought it was great. Got the Cuban and it was really good and a very large sandwich. Could have easily split it with someone but I'm fat so I ate the entire thing.
They are doing their own thing and house making as much as possible. People cry about BR being some culinary wasteland, but there are places like this that should be celebrated and supported for their contributions.

and the potato chips, while great texture were the saltiest chips I've had.
I got takeout from there Monday night. Cubano is always a winner. Tried the Club again, and it was far better this time than the last time I had it. I like the place.
As stated, the nachos on Friday are great, but the tacos on Tuesday might be even better.

yeah I saw that everyone else was complaining that the chips were over salted
mine had zero salt on them...they were basically flavorless
odd

At a place called City Pork, shouldn't the signature pulled pork sandwich knock your socks off (especially at a price point over $10 for a sandwich and chips)? In my opinion, theirs disappoints big time, especially considering the hype and praise they get on this website.
Take someone from out of town with a completely objective viewpoint and I guarantee they would label this place as mediocre at best.

To each their own, I've enjoyed the Big Pig a lot every time I've had it.

The things that are always on their menu are pretty good.
I have had terrible experiences when trying their specials. They made a housemade orange marmalade to put on top of their duck confit sandwich one time.... it had huge chunks of undercooked orange rind which made it basically inedible... They also didn't drain the confit (or finish it on a flat top) before they put it on the sandwich so the bottom piece of bread was like a sponge soaked in grease.
There are much better places for sandwiches in BR that are significantly cheaper.

I need to try the tacos, but im a huge fan of the nachos.

The nachos are alright... I think the nachos at Rum House are ten times better.

I've been more than once, including the week they first opened.
The first time I went the food was pretty good, to the point where it made me come back a second time. The second time, the food quality had dropped off substantially. I went back to give them a "second chance" and they really missed the mark. The pulled pork does not appeal to my tastes, but everyone is different. I'm not trying to shite on everyone else's opinion.
(disclaimer: it is obvious based on the posts that their product is inconsistent to a fault. It is possible that I have been there mostly on "bad" days while many of you happen to hit the good days...)

There are a lot of Cochon Butcher references in this thread and that's not a fair comparison.
City Pork is solid.
