I forget her exact hourly rate but say $32 hr. x 40 x 52 weeks is $67,000.
She normally has 4-8 hours OT on weekends. Sorry, not $44/hr., $48.
Yep. I don't think she has any interest in opening a clinic and Im ok with that.

Come to think of it, with the on call hours, it was probably closer to $70k. She's hourly so that $44/hr. in OT is nice.
this doesn't add up, you mean she makes 35 an hour, 44 shell be at 88k

You don't need 8 years of school to make that though

She probably works at a hospital and gets 35 for her normal shift and 44 for "on call" or weekend shifts.

Damn don't they go to school for a long time?
To make 60k?
Yea I had a cousin that went to PT school in Galveston. So the extra school plus OOS tuition had him taking on doctor type school loans all to make what a retail manager at a Radio Shack makes.
My extended family is always like "he's a doctor though" and I tell them by title only and certainly not by pay.
He thought about Dental school at first which would have actually been worth $200K in student loans.

I don't know a single one that's doing it because they want to get rich.

Im just glad my wife got into LSU NO so at least we could avoid that OOS tuition. Little victories

He applied and got in there too but wanted to go to Galveston. He truly thought he was going to be making OT baller money right out of the gate.
He does have plans to one day open his own clinic but even that he didn't think about how much it's going to cost him to get started. It's not like medical equipment and prime office space is cheap.

Sounds like he was misguided. I know a few that are working an SNF's or traveling making more than 80k with less than 2 years experience but they are typically working 6 days a week or in a rural/less desirable location.

No. He is just an arrogant shite. He just assumes the standards never apply to him. In his head he would be in more demand than other PTs because he was smarter than them, which is true, he is very smart. He learned quickly though that it didn't make a difference in the real world.

Oh. Well that's more of a life thing than a PT thing

I just graduated, and I'm making 65K at an outpatient clinic. I just got an offer for 90K, but its 2 hours away and is probably horrible. You can make anywhere from 60K-100K as a new grad depending on what you are willing to do.

My wife is in the PTA program right now. She will be balling in GA.

The salaries being static is true in medicine. I have a friend that's an internal medicine doc. Made 215 out if school and 235 6 years later

True, but my wife is doing it (not PT but similar health care field) because of the decent pay and flexible, stress-free work environment. My job is to carry the weight in the salary department, her job will be to provide fantastic supplemental salary, while having a flexible schedule.
She could also make bank if she ever wanted to open her own clinic.
