Rand Paul: 2016 GOP nominee could get a third or more of black vote
By David Sherfinski
Friday, October 17, 2014
Sen. Rand Paul, Kentucky Republican, says the 2016 Republican presidential nominee could capture one-third or more of the black vote by pushing the right issues.
“If Republicans have a clue and do this and go out and ask every African-American for their vote, I think we can transform an election in one cycle,” the likely 2016 contender told Politico.
Mr. Paul has made overtures to the African-American community by recently meeting with black leaders in Ferguson, Missouri, for example, and helping Republicans open up minority outreach offices in various cities.
The senator said he doesn’t want to put a ceiling on a targeted percentage, but that by hitting on issues like school choice, criminal justice reform and the economy, there are voters out there who are at least open to being persuaded.

The GOP will fight his nomination tooth and nail. They want the Romneys, McCains, etc.

No fricking way.
I could see someone like Rand stealing a few %'s but even against the angry old white woman blacks will vote Dem at a 90%+ clip

I don't have a study, but that shite would be wrong.
However, I do think he could peel off maybe 4-5%. If anyone can swing it so that they vote less than 90% in a block, then they've accomplished quite a lot.

Honestly, just 15% would have a huge impact.
That is why democrats are quick to brand republicans as racist, anti-gay, or at war with any number of single issue voters. They know they need to create animosity to win elections.

I like this strategy. But anything north of 15% AA vote for Republicans will be a huge win.

The biggest misconception of many Republican politicians is that 90% of Black folks are unpersuadable, despite the fact that Republicans like Jack Kemp, Arlen Specter, Mike Huckabee and Chris Christie have already dispelled this myth with their own success with Black voters.

If Rand gets the nomination, I could totally see him getting 25%

The only republican who could get 33% of black vote is a moderate black like Colin Powell

Would you support Paul if he pulled a Thad Cochran and started recruiting Black folks to vote in the Republican primaries?

Rand can get 15% of AA vote

RollTide will be pleased to know that Rand got much love on Chris Matthews' show tonight, with Jonathan Capehart and Michelle Bernard concurring with him on the possibility of him cutting deep into the Black vote if he gets the nomination. I'll post the links to the videos as soon MSNBC makes them available.

He's dreaming. The fact that there are varied income levels, varied professions, varied education levels, varied geographical interests, varied family statuses and many other differing interests amongst AA's yet they vote 90+% the same tells me there isn't a great deal of regard they give their individual vote.

I doubt it, and I'm a huge fan of Rand
