We did, you are correct but the overall track record of response to anything is pretty abysmal. The job usually gets done somehow but not after multiple agency whatever hacks look like buffoons and get canned after screwing up the deal.

You mean the nurse who followed the CDC recommendations and was told it was ok to fly after consulting the CDC?

No

This. Totally selfish and knowledgeable act. Of course she "called the CDC multiple times". I love how everyone just believes the story of someone hopping on planes after treating dead Ebola patients while having a slight fever.

This whole thing has been a massive debacle. From keeping Duncan in Dallas, to having the world's dumbest prevention protocol, to not monitoring people treating the patient...doesn't excuse an idiot nurse from getting on a plane and going to see her FAMILY.

You are spot on. Times like these are when you can really tell the morons from the normal thinking people.

MFin THIS!!!! I was just about to say this in another thread. We always get caught off guard and the bright, intelligent people in charge prove to be fricking Nancy Pelosi. anyone who thinks that her getting on a plane was a good idea is fricking stupid and should be fired

I know...my point.

BTW...this nurse is fricking stupid. Knows she's been exposed, still goes to family wedding. Notwithstanding the flight (there AND back), she was in close (and likely physical) contact with multiple family members.

Yea, she called the CDC and said her temperature was 99.5, which is below the 100.4. But apparently her family is saying that she hadn't been feeling well. She's a nurse who recently treated an ebola patient. She probably should have known better.

The CDC could have quarantined all the medical workers who cared for the patient, but they didn't. Hindsight is 20/20.

On this particular situation I blame the nurse.

The fact that she asked means that she knew something wasn't right. She had a feeling that she shouldn't have flown.

Oh, and on a side note, 99.5F is not a fever.

I guessing the CDC required her to check in prior to traveling. But, I'm with you. She should have known better.

Therefore, like Duncan, she is an inherently evil human being.

Unlike this nurse, Duncan did not treat an Ebola patient days before getting on a plane. He lived in a region where Ebola was present for years. He didn't realize symptoms until he arrive in the states. Should he never travel because he lives in a region of the world where ebola is present? I don't see Duncan as an "inherently evil human being".

Yea, was being sarcastic.

Completely disagree with the idea that either of them are evil.

So she's to blame despite following protocol set forth by the authority on the matter.

Got it.

He's not exactly some unknowing unlucky victim. When he was in Liberia he helped take a woman known to have Ebola to the hospital a few days before he got on the plane.

So protocol was that she check in with the CDC prior to traveling. She did and reported an acceptable temperature. According to family members she had been feeling ill. Did she report that to the CDC? Who knows. So is it the CDC's fault? They were acting off information given to them. If I were to guess, which is what we're all doing here, she was not completely honest with the CDC as to how she truly felt even though her temperature was within range.

A temperature isn't considered a true "fever" until it is 100.4F in a young, otherwise healthy individual.
