My opinions on some places mentioned

Seattle: Moved here when I was 26 many years ago and never left. It has changed a lot and can only recommend it for a summer not a year.

Portland: Great choice if interested in the Pacific NW and small enough to actually get to know people.

San Fran: Real fricking city with history..would live there if I could.

San Diego: Have family in La Jolla and go often. Cool town if you like Cali.

Denver: Just got back from there. Too dry and high elevation for me. Feel like you're on an island.

Beach: Did it for a few months. Great escape but couldn't do it a whole year.

New York: One of my favorite cities.

Answer: San Fran or NY if you have extra $$

There are probably dozens of places in Florida that fit this description better. Have you ever heard of fricking Ocala or Melbourne? Good god

I only lived there for about 16 years, working out of Miami for the entire time, so I guess I didn't pay much attention, sorry

I'm loving Chicago, but the never ending, brutal winter season is too much. I never thought much about Chicago's winter as I am originally from Detroit...until now.

My picks:

San Francisco
San Diego
Nashville
Salt Lake City
Boise

I really don't want to move back as much as I like it. It's way too crowded for me. I like Naples more

which would explain your unfamiliarity with the rest of the state. Probably not a bad thing, cause there are some grim places in Florida. When Florida is nice, it's nice, but when it's shitty...prayers sent

A ski village in Utah or Colorado. Ski all winter, hike and bike all summer. Heaven.

didn't say I lived in Miami, I'm very familiar with the state, from the panhandle to Key West, and all points in between

Ocala pretty much could put a La. Behind it. Insert coonass for redneck same heat no ocean breeze. Basically nothing but lakes and boredom.

Florida is awesome along the coasts though.

why? ohio is pretty bad, but indiana might be the worst state in the country.

Don't deny that they have rednecks but you do realize that if La. had as much land as florida the ratio of trash would be equivalent. Florida inland = trash pretty much. Coastal areas and St.Augustine are very nice. I live near ponte vedra beach and not trashy one bit.

Move to Colorado. You could easily find a job there if you want to stay. Natural gas jobs all over the place.

they're actually the natives, in a close flip of the coin tiebreaker, I would take them over the transient scum that permeates just about all of the rest of the state bottom line, like many other "desirable" places, if you've got the $, you can insulate yourself from what's undesirable

Truth. I have driven through those red neck towns they got one thing in common with those small Louisiana towns. Cops on a mission to give you a speeding ticket.
