I wasn't calling Cuban dumb for paying him, and Parsons will be their second option next year if not this year.
They're the only team that could do it, and good for them. I'm sure he loves Dallas, they are paying him $10+mil more over his contract than anyone else would. And he's said before that he's salty and took it personal Houston wanted to add another all star

Eh, his market value was set by the Hayward contract.

He still would have only got $12-13 mil. It's not like teams besides Dallas were lining up to give him a max deal

I guess making almost a million dollars a year is considered poor now a dAys?

Parsons jimmies will forever be rustled.

Not too bad when you can give your first (or second) option 8mil. If he and Dirk's salaries were flipped, no one would blink an eye.
I, begrudgingly, acknowledge that this is a good point.
But it also illustrates why letting him go was the right move for Houston.
You can overvalue and overpay someone if it fits within your big picture salary structure. That salary makes sense for Dallas's overall cap structure. Not Houstons. It would be an albatross the instant Houston signed it. It only gets that way for Dallas after Dirk retires, but their window will be shut at that point anyway.

We'll see how parsons handles a much bigger role with higher expectations. I feel like everyone who LOVES parsons never watched him consistently. Only saw a few highlights, a few box scores, and know he's white who was a 2nd rd pick who's massively overplayed his draft position. We'll see how it all plays out. Parsons value was always his contract, not his beast mode skills

Well his salary is actually quite cheap now when considering the new TV $.

I don't think Cuban thought Morey would match. That's why they structured the contract in a way that makes it virtually untradable.
Cuban said just recently that he knows that Morey operates based on logic, and he's not going to hinder the team's flexibility by taking on an untradable contract like that for a non-star player like Parsons.
He was correct.
This offseason was very interesting because it shed some light on how Morey operates.

But he's not worth $15M per season.
Under the new TV deal he is.

He's just playing to the fan bases. He did the same thing when he was in Houston with the Texans. Other players do it too. JJ Watt is always at Rockets games cheering on the Rockets and wearing Rockets gear. Do you think he is really a Rockets fan or just playing to the fan base in Houston?

This. Under Parsons' last contract he was allowed to disappear during big moments. Harden (and Howard) took all of the heat. That changes this year.

Screw that dude. His game is sporadic at best so good luck with that Dirk

This is a bit of an exaggeration.

I know to the average level headed person he did not troll too bad. If you were listening to Houston sports radio this morning you would think he said the worst thing imaginable though. The butthurt was strong.

Parsons is not worth his contract, I think he is near his ceiling. However, the fact the Mavs snagged him from the Rockets might add some value to the contract.
