RA'd. This is the second time you've tried to spread false information, without any evidence whatsoever, about a valuable healthcare screening tool. It is dangerous talk and should not be allowed here.

your 1st link in BS, here is why:

1. She makes alot of claims and does not site the source
2. The first reference she links is to a study that hasn't released any results
3. The 2nd reference she listed directly contradicts what she has said.

Strike 3= you're out

Okay after previewing the 2nd article. I click on the tab for about the author.
quote:

Mr. Monastyrsky graduated from medical university [link] in 1977 with a pharmacy degree. He is also a certified nutritional consultant and an expert in forensic nutrition, a new field of science that investigates the connection between supposedly healthy foods and nutrition-related disorders, such as diabetes and obesity.

Ok so he is a pharmacy degree from a 1970's soviet school and is a nutrionist, not an MD/DO or even a PhD.

Second his conclusions are not at all what the he cited claims.

You are dumber than Tuba

The rate of perforation reported in large studies is 0.3%
or less and is generally less than 0.1%.2 In a large study of
screening colonoscopy, perforation was reported in 13 of
84,412 procedures (0.01%).19 In a case-controlled study
of 277,434 Medicaid beneficiaries undergoing colonoscopy,
the rate of perforation was 8.2 per 10,000 procedures
(0.08%) compared with 0.3 per 10,000 matched
controls (0.003%).20 In a study analyzing over 50,000
colonoscopies and using Medicare claims data, the rate of
perforation was 5 to 7 per 10,000 procedures (0.05%-
0.07%) and not significantly different for procedures
coded as screening without polypectomy, diagnostic without
polypectomy, or with polypectomy (regardless of indication).
4 Finally, in a large study of 116,000 patients
undergoing colonoscopy at ambulatory endoscopy centers,
there were 37 perforations (0.3%).21

by using Medicare claims found that the rate of GI
hemorrhage was significantly different with or without
polypectomy: 2.1 per 1000 procedures coded as screening
without polypectomy and 3.7 per 1000 for procedures
coded as diagnostic without polypectomy, compared with
8.7 per 1000 for any procedures with polypectomy.4

rate of 0.03%

days of the colonoscopy, although some reported allcause
mortality whereas others limited their analysis to
colonoscopy-specific mortality. Those reporting all-cause
mortality include 116 deaths among 176,834 patients
(0.07%).4,9,14, 49-52 Among those reporting colonoscopyspecific

That mortality rate means that 1000 deaths per 14.3 million procedures meaning the OP is claiming over 700,000,000 colonoscopies performed yearly

This was a colonoscopy thread...not an ISIS thread. You believe colonoscopies are a big conspiracy too???

I'm sure you don't realize this, but shoving a dildo up your own arse =/= a colonoscopy.

I was unaware that Isis, Colon Cancer, and colonoscopies were highly infectious diseases.

How about a quiz? Who would you rather be in a room with for 10 hours? Rank in order of priority?

A. Isis
B. Ebola Victim
C. Colon Cancer Victim
D. Someone getting a colonoscopy

Also, if you want to go that route, more people are killed by knives than by guns. Just the facts...

Well, you fricking idiot, it definitely spots and is part of early detection, allowing colon cancer to be stopped and removed.

I guess you believe mammograms are not responsible for saving lives of people with breast cancer.

More recent studies shows a greater than 50% mortality reduction with colonoscopy. NEJM zauber 2012.

The question regarding mammograms is more complicated and currently controversial. it definitely detects cancer early but the mortality benefit is not clear. There is the issue of lead time bias which confounds things for one. Likely there will be subgroups where mammograms have clear benefit and others not so much. Finding DCIS in an 85 year old is labelled as a cancer diagnosis in with this data, and may be better left not found. This is just one example.

It was discovered by my first ever colonoscopy that my doctor had been advising me to have. I finally took his advice. I was stupid to wait as long as I did.

One of my golfing partners had a colonoscopy yesterday. We're playing tomorrow. I'm hoping the procedure has caused some residual side effects that hinder his game for at least one day so I can finally beat him.
