The solution:
Stop letting fricking GED redneck SWAT team members go around playing FBI Hostage Rescue Team with money from DHS. "Well we got these flash bangs so I guess we'll use 'em in trying to arrest an unarmed petty meth dealer."

But then the contractors selling all this superfluous nonsense will have to cut jobs.

All of this.

Nobody talking about the fact that the officer resigned rather than be terminated.
Hmmm--no indictment grounds, but termination? Does not compute.

hate the war on drugs and the cops here acted like pricks but I'm not sure they deserve prison.
They broke into an innocent family's home unannounced and threw a grenade into a crying baby's crib then tackled and held at gun point the parents for a fee minutes before any of them even radiod for medical care for the baby.
How the frick you can defend that is beyond my comprehension.

They way you out it makes it sound like they grenaded (I know it's not a word) this kid on purpose. The rest of the statement I agree with.

Breesus -- how the frick were they supposed to know that kid was not packing heat? Look at the terrorists; TSA gropes kids--not to be trusted.
Women-children-men; it makes no difference. Shoot first, sort it out in court.

Here's the real kicker with the kid and the no-knock warrant:
If the police had investigated this man so thoroughly that a judge issued the state a hall pass to kick in the front door unannounced, is it illogical to assume that the state knew that a child resided at the home and that it would be present?
I guess drug justice has collateral consequences.

Won't happen. The local departments have to justify their bloated budgets that the legislators vote for because they have to be "tough on crime."

I'm not excusing anything they did; just pointing out his wording.
And yes, I would hope if you're going to no-knock someone, you'd be absolutely sure who was/was not in the home at the time.

Habersham police were searching for a relative who did not live in the house, who was not there at the time, and who was taken into custody without incident later in the day and charged only with possession of methamphetamines. They found no drugs or weapons inside the home and later admitted to being unaware there were children inside the residence.
LoL. You cannot satirize this shite.

Pay more money if you want more surveillance and better intel. This isn't the fricking NSA.
Posted on 10/9/14 at 9:01 am to CheeseburgerEddie
Yeah, it would probably cost a few hundred dollars to put surveillance on the home to determine who is coming and going.
Posted on 10/9/14 at 9:02 am to CheeseburgerEddie
Or maybe they can just cut out the unnecessary raids in private citizens' homes.
Posted on 10/9/14 at 9:04 am to Peazey
or just get rid of cops all together. Dude made a mistake in the line of work and lost his job. The state should pay for the medicals, that part is fricked up.
Posted on 10/9/14 at 9:04 am to Jim Rockford
Shouldn't be in jail, but they shouldn't be SWAT anymore either. Hope this family gets paid, and they cops are back looking for speeders.

Initially, the city of Habersham publicly vowed to cover the child's medical expenses, but last month recanted on the promise.
"The question before the board was whether it is legally permitted to pay these expenses. After consideration of this question following advice of counsel, the board of commissioners has concluded that it would be in violation of the law for it to do so," said the attorney for Habersham County.
This is also disgusting. All the people that get up in arms about stupid NFL violence need to start pushing this story.
