Haven't been to a sonny's in years. There was one on old highway 80 in Jackson, just west of Ellis avenue - 80 yards east of to Chrechale's.

As I recall their BBQ was pretty good. They had "All you can eat BBQ for a while"?

Had both of those this past weekend. And they are up there as the best around. Whole hog, to me at least, is the greatest accomplishment in bbq. And those are two great ones.

Let me put it this way, it had none of the weather, drama, problems, or headaches of New Orleans. Really a perfect day, things went smoothly, and everyone had an awesome time. I even got to sit back and eat bbq.

The good news is we have finally mastered a cash management system that wont make people murder us.

I'm very envious of you my man.

I might have to go up to Hemingway this weekend.

Waiting on scanner data but it was around 2000 or so. Which helps explain why it was easier to manage

Williamson Bros. in Marietta, Ga provided the best pork meal I have had.

Killen's BBQ beef ribs and brisket were great.

Franklin's brisket is as advertised.

John Mueller Meat co. was pretty damn good too.

Also, some place in Houston. Forgot the name. Run by a bunch of Mexicans, you eat outside. You order by walking in line cafeteria style. Can someone help me out? That was pretty damn good

One of the best values I found during my travels to LA was Sonnys. All you can eat dry rub ribs (or other meat of your choice), 2 sides, and Texas toast for $13.99. Not impeccable BBQ by any means but suitable enough to serve its purpose.

Soul Kitchen (Avondale). I prefer the Soul Kitchen though

I dig this place. Lived in the Triangle for a few years and was underwhelmed with all the BBQ I had there. NC BBQ is not for me. Really want to go on a BBQ tour of Texas.

For dry ribs, Rendezvous when they are fresh from the pit. Wet ribs, Corky's on Poplar. Pulled pork, the Commissary in Germantown. Brisket, Franklin's.

Lastly, Peg Leg Porkers in Nashville - don't understand the hype. Bland at best.

a block from where i work.

i didnt realize they were hyped..i agree..typical bland pulled pork

Had I would have known that, I would have treated you to lunch last week.

TripAdvisor, Yelp and UrbanSpoon reviews are very complementary of Peg Leg Porker BBQ "creating the hype" at least in mind. It was further developed as I went to place my order, informing the cashier behind the counter that it was my first time here, she proceeded to let me know Peg Leg Porker has been featured on TV as well.

It was good, perhaps even very good for Tennessee, but compared to Texas BBQ, it would compare to Dickey's.
