Good teams win the close games.

I remember hearing that somewhere a few weeks ago.

No shite. It's the NFL for chrissake. As the inestimable Jim Mora said a couple of years ago when someone complained about a close win: "It's hard to win a game in the NFL".

Should have never been a close game. Brees' turnovers made it close. In every game thus far Brees has made a careless turnover that caused significant momentum swings from which the Saints could never recover. We are fortunate it was Tampa. A better team would have blown us out

14 points were Brees' fault.

If you wanna be weird, technically they had momentum going into the 3rd and drove down for a TD so make that 21 points

Exactly. We've eeked out close wins against bad opponents plenty of times. Even our SB year.

We could be 4-1 right now, but we're 2-3.

Sucks, but good teams fix themselves and not implode.

Lets hope we're not gonna implode after the bye week.

9-7 could win this division. For sure 10-6.

Pittsburgh will have a losing record this year, at best 8-8.
We did lose to a quality Dallas team, but the fact that we've went to wire with 3 mediocre teams is cause for concern.

You don't have to be a 13 win team to win the SB. But you do need to play well on the road...

We almost lost to Tampa, yes, but not because if the defense. Drew Bree's making stupid decisions with the football with more careless play after getting $100 million is the culprit here.

Maybe it's because I'm an LSU and Saints fan, but I'm so tired of hearing this. People think it makes them a prophetic genius, or they're too cliche to come up with an original thought.

It's just a foreshadowing of what is to come.

We are not good. I'd say our season is going to basically be over in about 3-4 weeks, but our division is so bad, we will probably be in it much longer than we should.

this team is a hair away from 1-4. tampa was down 56-0 two weeks ago, and they're going to be battling the raiders for the #1 pick.

1-3, at home, desperate - any above average team would've smoked tampa yesterday with those circumstances.

The OP clearly is an LSU fan, another great team experiencing the pits, so what is a less hackneyed way for him to say that he is anticipating a joyless football season?

The only silver lining for the saints right now is that other teams in the division are also really bad and that they have a bye week to get whatever they're doing on defense corrected. Pretty much this exact same unit was awesome last year.

If the Saints are going to have any hope of getting this turned around, Sean Payton needs to do a better job.
