not talking about his game strategies which have been extremely suspect recently, but mostly the profile of the player types he wants on the front 7.

This has severely hurt our ability to play physical football. he wants tackles who are more like ends and linebackers who are like safeties and ends who are like linebackers.

Look at thte D lines of the teams that just whipped our asses and how physically big and strong their front 7s were and it tells you all you need to know.

our secondary is good enough to win with in any game but we get zero push up front. Nobody scares you. nobody takes up two blockers except Hunter on 3rd and long.

There is a deep fundamental problem with undersized defenses, especially when they are also not extremely fast.

Someone will take the fall for Leslie, probably will be him.

He's always had that philosophy and for the most part it worked exceptionally well in the SEC for 20 years.

With more teams running spreads you want to get bigger? It's the reason bama teams have struggled with spread o's

Wasn't the 2011 team like this?

not the physical part,

but LSU had Ends who were like linebackers, especially Kiki

not so sure about LB being safeties,

We had fast DTs

a great secondary.

I'm not getting your argument.

I Disagree. It's not his players. It's his scheme. Take the same players and put them in a gap penetrating scheme. They would be better.

the under sized defense philosophy is a stupid one. Really it's stupid at any position.

There's a reason Tennessee was smart enough to let him go.

At this point in the Miles tenure, I question all hires (cameron gets an exception).

2011 was an anomaly because you had guys with exceptional talent planing on the front 7. a bigger MLB than his profile and 300lb Brockers (1st round pick) clogging the middle. and you had the ultimate X factor Tyrann M who dominated games and forced so many turn overs

1000000000% WRONG

In the modern era of football do you expect the defense to pitch shutouts? Because that is how good our defense would have to be. In fact, if we had the #1 defense in college football this year, we probably still lose one or two games because our offense is that bad.

Chavis has given us some of the best defenses in college football. Has our offense ever been a top 25 offense?

the personnel can work, even in the NFL

the issue is development. for a LB guru, he's sucked arse at developing LBs consistently

the staff has missed at DT recruiting/development also. even ego/freak were seen as busts b/c they didn't develop well. we've downgraded

our DEs are ok. we're not going to get mingo/sam every year, but this D sort of requires that level of DE to be elite

and our secondary is just a mess. has been since reid left. our CBs are OK but our safties?

our D was pretty good in 2012 too.

the 2013 D started off real bad but got better as the season went on.

We are 6 games into this season, if we have one of the worst Ds in the country by years end, ok maybe he should go, but give the guy a chance to adjust as the season goes on.

Auburn couldn't be stopped by anyone after they caught fire last year. MSU has been scoring at will this season. Our defense looks horrible but we need to be patient. Don't change the staff after only 2 losses. Let's give Chavis till the end of at-least this season before we call for his head.

Yes. That should be the expectation of every defense.

In the modern era of football you can't expect a team to go undefeated.

1 great defense full of NFL starters & a bunch of losses - and near losses- that can easily be pinned on his "great" defenses.

Cam has done nothing. We didn't scheme our way to excellent offense. We played hand to Hill, throw to wideouts, sandlot with Mett.........

Chavis has a problem this year, his small players are extremely slow as well. It is a pretty damn bad combination

His D needs strong play from DT and MLB and those are the two weakest positions right now.

They totally shite the bed in 2011-2012 in DT recruiting and it shows.

Hasn't the defense been hit by early nfl draftees more than the offense?

Hasn't tge defense been our strength most years that he has been here?
